Surrey Completed Look up Requests / A bit more info about my Grandfather
« on: Friday 19 October 07 13:50 BST (UK) »
Hi again, I've now got more info regarding my grandad on my dad's side.
I have a copy of the marriage cert now and this has the following details.
GRO Reference Information
Year 1899, Qtr March, District Kingston, Vol 2a, Page 456.
It shows the marriage took place between William Frank Lord, age 23, Private in Royal Marines, Residence - Barracks, Walmer, fathers name William Lord (deceased), fathers profession - Draper's Assistant.
and
Margaret Emma Sawtell, age 24, Residence - 17 Trevor Road, (which we have established is in Wimbledon, Surrey), fathers name Charles Sawtell (deceased), fathers profession - Private xxxviii?? Regt.
At "Holy Trinity Church" Wimbledon, Surrey, on 22nd January 1899.
What I find sad is that neither of the fathers could be at the marriage, much like my own dad when I was married.
Most of above confirms and adds to what I have on file already so if anyone can expand on the above for me, I would be very grateful.
One bit of info that I would like to get is of course my great-grandmothers name (grandads mum). If I can't get any further then of course I will order the birth certs for both of my grandparents.
P.S. Why is ancestry.co.uk and .com so slow? it seems to take forever to load a page, thats if it does at all, and quite often end up with 100% cpu use.
