Norfolk / Re: TOMLINSON ARMS/ Yarmouth Pub

Good Morning from Australia !!,
Yes, they look like a very unpleasant place to live by modern standards. But I hope as a Publican William Snr. and family had a bit of a more comfortable life. It makes you understand why so many ofthe younger ones took off for the Antipodes for a possibly better life and adventure.

I was in England during my younger years ( in the 80's) but had no interest in family history then. Now I look forward to revisiting in the future and retracing my ancestors footsteps, as soon as my kids are off my hands!!.

Yes I had found both those sites also, plus Frances Friths photgraphic site, with many beautiful photos of England and counties.

Hi Yokel,
 Yes, that site is where I found my Leggetts, after finding out William Leggett was a Publican on the census data. I also found that Mary Ann ( his wife) had an extra name ( Hannah) and that their son must have taken over the license as well !!

I always wondered why I liked a beer or two !!!!

I was just hoping that someone from Yarmouth might have a photo of the Pub or what is there now . I have tried all sorts of photo sites ( Yarmouth on Film etc.), and found a photo of  the Row they lived in previously., but no luck with  65 Middlegate Street or Pub itself.
William and Marys son -surprise-William Newby Leggett, emigrated to N.Z. in 1869 approx. He was my great-grandfather.
Thanks again;
Trish

Could anyone help me with a photo of this Pub that closed approx. 1906. It was at   65 MIDDLEGATE STREET, Great Yarmouth,   and my ancestors held the licence in the 1860-1880 period.

Any info. on it or just a photo or description of what is at that address now, would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks Jim.
Yes, I have tried just about everything I can think of. Hopefully someone might come up with something for me,
 or be linked to any of these families.
I have even tried all the Fitzpatrick researchers, no luck.
The Leggetts ( from Great Yarmouth,Norfolk) I have traced back to mid 1750's. Even found out g/g grandfather and later g/g grandmother were Publicans from the NorfolkPubs website.
 Always wondered why I loved a beer or two!!!

« on: Friday 12 October 07 11:37 BST (UK)  »
I would appreciate any help or advice on how to track records on my great-grandmother from County Down.

This is all the info I have from her New Zealand Death Cert.

Anne Leggett, died 1926, aged 89,widow, time in N.Z. 62 years. born County Down + parents as below

So I am looking for;

Anne DEAN
Born abt. 1837 County Down
Parents   Patrick DEAN and Elizabeth FITZPATRICK
Arrived in N.Z. about 1864 ( can not find any arrival records)

Anne married William Newby Leggett in 1870, but was previously married to
PATRICK NOLAN., do not know if this was in Ireland or N.Z.
