« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if someone could help with the children of Robert Newton and his wife Mary Middleton of West Acre, was there two sons Robert one c1742 and another c1757. I have a Robert newton 1757 in Great Cressingham that was not born there and many have him as the 1742 Robert and I would like to sort it out, did the 1742 Robert die early and Robert 1757 was named after him or perhaps the 1757 one from elswhere  ???

Many Thanks for any help. (West Acre Micro Film available but too expensive for one record)at the mo. :D

My Gt Grandad Gunner 174339 RFA Fulham (sw) was awarded the DCM for dismantaling a gun under fire whilst surrounde by the enemy his CO had been shot in both legs and my Gt Grandad carried him on his back stillunder fire to safty.
On his medal card and at the later presentation of his medal after the war he was shown as Gunner yet in the only picture of him he is wearing one stripe on each arm, I will add the phote he is on the right.
Can anyone explain why as a Gunner he would have one stripe. He was awol for a short time after the rescue of his CO and arrested by the MP's but avoided a court martial as his Co intervened

many thank Chuck

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Bristol Marriage check please 1822
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 21:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I have a Thomas Telling and Elizabeth Templer of Purton Wiltshire AND there is only one marriage I can find on Ancestry, to match, but that is in Bristol on 26th August 1822 (their first born was 1823) I wondered if on the full record there may be a reference to where they came from so I can be 100% sure this is their marriage and for some reason they went to Bristol to get married. If it helps he was a Butcher of Pavehill Purton and both shown born Purton.

Many Thanks Chuck Gaish
