Helina,

You did not say where William and siblings were living in 1841.

The LDS reckon on a marriage when the groom is 25 which would mean a marriage in about 1852 but I do not think it's a good idea so guessing 21 would mean 1848.

The number of marriages of William Richardses in GLS between 1848 and 1860 is rather a lot and the number of deaths of W.R's is really surprising.

Do you know that he did get married and if so, where and to whom?

Regards

Chas

??,

Searching at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start for all Gloucestershire gives just one R.H. baptized in 1920.  The location is not K.S.   I leave finding the details to you.

Chas

P.S.  Whoops!  1820 of course ;)

Chatters all,

On an old map from http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html I noticed that the surveyor had given the types of some trees!   One way of keeping so busy that ones job is safe?

But seriously, the maps are super - have a look for your birthplace 100 years ago perhaps.

Velcro,

Sinwell (sic) Lane is shown on an old map but the map of the tything shows no other named roads/streets- just what looks like lanes/footpaths between the properties.

Chas

P.S.

Look at old maps at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html

Snipped

I then put Great Badmington on a search and found the following site
Shakespeare.org.uk. This site holds Parish Register Copies of
all the small villages like Nympsfield, Great Badminton, unfortunately
couldnt see North Nibley, but the Births, Christenings, Marriages and
Deaths . . . Snipped

 ??? ??? ???

Chatters,

In my searches through the N.N. records I found that the extracted entries in the IGI give old style dates.   For instance, one of my names PRIDE is mainly from Horsley, but sometimes I made notes of any from other parishes I came across.

A Hannah Pride's christening is an extracted entry from the register of N.N. and gives the date as 14 Feb 1697.  I noted that the register entry for Hannah is indeed on the page entitled 1697 but the February 14 entry for her comes AFTER entries made during the months April to December.

Ergo, Hannah Pride was born and christened in 1698 New style :D.

Old style years were from Lady Day (25 March) to the day before the next Lady Day.  Thus 1751 was the shortest year ever - March 25th to the following January 1st when New Style dating was decreed.

I do not know of the LDS policy regarding Old/New style dating but it's food for thought isn't it ???

Regards

Chas

P.S. added.   Gets rid of a few bastards I expect ;D

??

Looking at an old map of N.N. I found Millend, Warend and Southend all within the parish, so it seems reasonable to think there might have been an area or lane termed House End.  There's also a Lowerhouse Lane, so you might find somebody in the Lower House ;D
