Family History Beginners Board / Remakel
« on: Tuesday 14 July 20 00:30 BST (UK)  »
Is it correct that there are no other people alive or deceased with the surname Remakel in Australia?  Following a search for a missing person (female) Remakel no-one has come up with any other Remakel surnames in Australia. This is apart from an Australian lonely hearts advert in 1994 with a Monsieur F Remakel who appears to be from another country.

Family History Beginners Board / Alfred Evans b.1913 1913 • trecynon, Wales &
« on: Friday 20 September 19 13:04 BST (UK)  »
I  have come to a blank researching Albert Evans who may be the brother of George Edward Evans b1908, Wales.

The only information I have for both of them before they arrived in Quebec is on this ship. 21/09/1928 • Quebec, Canada:-
Ship : Duchess of Bedford Agency : Barnardos Passenger List gives age as 16, born Treeynon, Wales, destination-Mr John W Hobday, 538 Jarvis St, Toronto, Ont, next of kin- Guardians of Methyr Tydfil Union, intended occupation-farming

George Edward Evans b1908 is also listed as travelling c/o Barnardo's homes, London.

Apparently there is a distant relative (4th to 5th cousin match with my DNA so I would like to find out more, many thanks.

Thank you for your help. Arthur G Barr married Daisy Cooper in Alverstoke in June 1916 quarter 2b, 1266, according to my research.
It appears that Daisy went back to her family town in Halstead, Essex to have their daughter Pamela Barr, births December 1917, 4a, 1109.
By December 1928 quarter Daisy had married a Mr Henry W Curtis and Arthur had disappeared either deceased or divorced.
Someone by the same name did Arthur G Barr did marry another person too around the same time !

Does findmypast have the original transcript as well as the transcribed? My local West Sussex library is offerering free viewing so i will try to get down there and see what I can make out of the mistakes I earlier described!

I am experiencing problems too with this register. Someone kindly looked up a pub landlord Henry W Curtis and his wife Daisy in Lymington High Street in 1939 and it came up with the following:

Daisy L Curtis 23 Nov 1895 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married 64 2
~??? Custi? 04 Sep 1896 Male Land Circ? Of Public House Married 64 1
Edna K Parker (Warr) 14 Oct 1924 Female Nursemaid Single 64 3

From my research the freebmd shows her date of birth in the March 1895 quarter when she was then in her maiden name Daisy Lily Cooper, Halstead, Essex. The only other Daisy Cooper was from Portsea Island and a death record exists for her in infancy.
No death record found for Daisy L Curtis (nee Cooper)
23rd November 1895 does not make sense so far. Ink blobs on original transcript apparently but only over Henry's entry.
Interesting to read of other people sheer fustration with the register but the transcribers are only human and make mistakes.

« on: Wednesday 30 March 16 12:39 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone look up who else was living with Arthur George Barr in 1911 on the census where there is a listed for Itchen, South Stoneham, Hampshire.
There should also be a British army record for him somewhere

I think he was the person who later married the following Daisy Cooper and Arthur Barr:-
BARR   ARTHUR G  —  —  1916  England & Wales marriages 1837-2008  Alverstoke, Hampshire, England

Many thanks.

Kent / Re: River Hall - Biddenden
« on: Sunday 15 November 15 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
My husbands family have the same Beale ancestors.
The earliest Beale's I have traced are Richard Beale from Biddenden 1642 and his wife Elizabeth Beale (nee Newenden) 1646. They had a son also called Richard Beale in 1668 who also married an Elizabeth and had several children. At least one if the children also Richard Beale born in 1716 resided at River Hall.
The following link shows at the bottom of the page other ancestors leaving memorial messages to ancestor who resided at River Hallhttp://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=beale&GSbyrel=in&GSdyrel=in&GScntry=5&GSob=n&GRid=43722530&df=all&
