there's a Dennis A Houghton, b 11/7/1922,living in Lowestoft in 1939, apprentice printer
address 56 stevens st with his mother, father, sister and a brother.

This was Dennis Albert Houghton and he is listed in UK London Gazettes World War II Military Notices on Ancestry - confirms his service number was indeed 1257998 - and has a date of 5/2/1945.   I thought these notices referred to people killed in the war but there is nothing shown for this person on CWGC casualty listings.    Nor can I find a likely death in UK for this person at any time so as he effectively 'disappears' after this 1945 listing perhaps it was indeed a notice of his death.   However, if so, why is he not listed as a casualty on CWGC?

Been following the thread as usual - people seem to be feeling a lot brighter.

Nothing of any note to report from me but looking forward to tomorrow when I'm going to Hastings for the week with sister, b-in-law, niece, her husband, the twins plus their older sister (13).  Just a short trip to lift our spirits after a cold and damp winter.   Good news is the forecast is sunny every day.   Not warm yet though but temperature is a few degrees higher than it's been here of late so sounds good to me.  The little ones will love it I'm sure.

Best wishes to you all.

The John Frost at Leopold St, Derby not your man.  Had a different occupation.

However, have found a John Kings in Derby in 1921 who was a fitter at Rolls Royce (no Frost or King).

Through other sources discovered he married a Lilian Emily Farmer in 1917 Derby and they had a son Dennis born 1917.  The family emigrated to Canada in 1928 (is date significant, just a year after your Nan born?).   John Kings died in Ontario in 1939.

A few trees on Ancestry for this family.  However, this John shown as Fitter, not draughtsman.

Her name was Lena, not Lean.   You need to amend your post.

This week my niece took me out for lunch with the girls.  Lovely meal.  The twins were happy that they didn't have to sit in high chairs as the type of chairs at our table meant when pulled up to the table the girls would not fall out.

After they'd had their lunch Mum gave them their tablets before any shennigans ensued.   Yes, the girls have their own tablets (supposedly age 3+ but they are only 2 years 4 months).  From time to time when they were playing up Mum or Dad would let them play on their phones which they loved.   After Christmas the tablets were half price in the sale, and as Mum had had some credit in hand she decided to purchase them.   The girls love them but there are strict controls as to when they can use them.   Attach a pic taken after lunch - Darcy in particular (on the left) looks a real pro!

The Lighter Side / Re: Unregistered births in the 1800s. Any experiences?

In 1851 census she is shown as Isabel Stokes aged 8 so born latter half of 1852 or early 1853.  Her sister Lucy was 11 and born Mar.qtr.1850.  Older brother Frederick not registered either but sister Eliza born 1856 was.

See my above post 1834 St Geo Hanover sq

I can’t access those details. Looking on Familysearch

I think that one is only on Ancestry

It's also on Find My Past.
