Was it common place in the 1800s for people to lie about their age on the marriage certificate. My mother was shocked when i purchased my Grt Grandmothers marriage certificate, she was always told that Grt Grandfather was about 5 years older than Grt Grandmother. When i found a census record for my Grt Grandfather it actually showed he was 10 years older could this be right.Anne.

Kevin,i agree with you.We shouldnt have to pay for whats ours to start with.I do appreciate the fact that someone somewhere has to put in the work to make things available in the first place, but most of the sites now are run by very good volunteers and it gets quite expensive after a while trying to get the right information.I wouldnt mind paying a fee to a registerd charity as you suggest.I just think that everyone is out to rip someone off,as if things arent  expensive enough. ;)Things like the 1901 census information, why cant we pay a fee for the upkeep of the building the records are kept in or something similar.I cant praise rootschat enough,i have had lots of help from some very nice people and they didnt charge a penny, thats what i call charity.Keep up the good work ROOTSCHAT.Anne.

Hi Pauline, thankyou for your reply.I think i have found them.Margaret Ann Paxtons parents were Bridgette Donaldson and Robert Paxton.I am now trying to find out where her daughter Bridgette Ann was living after her mother died aged 28 in 1892.Bridgette Ann would have been 2 or 3 years old.Thankyou again for your reply.Anne.

Hi Grub, thankyou for your help.I was doing a bit of rummaging around today and i found this.Margaret ann Paxton, born Glendale 1864,would it be possible to check the 1871 census for any brothers and sisters,i would also like to know who her parents were.Margaret Paxton married William English Glendale 1885,she died aged 28 in 1892.Her daughter Bridgette Ann was born in 1889 so she was only 2 or 3 when her mother died.Have you got census records for 1871 and 1881 to find Margaret with her parents and siblings.Thankyou for any help.Anne.
