Hi

I am currently researching the Barnes Family from Henley, Oxfordshire.


Ann Maria Barnes married Frederick Rose Sept 1879 at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, I have managed to find all their children I am now working back from Ann Maria.

Ann Maria Barnes parents are William Barnes born c1826, Shoemaker and Sophia Woodley married 1857 Henley On Thames.  I have found all William and Sophia children.

The problem I have hit is that on the 1851 census William is at home with his siblings (Martha, John, Francis and Margaret) and mother (Maria) but he is not on the 1841 census and on both census his father is missing I am having trouble getting any further back than William with the resources I have access too any help would be gratefully received.

I will have to look into this some more as this is closer to the birth informatio I have on the census records although it does present another problem as I have mothers name ass Priscilla.  Thank you

Thanks Jackie for the information provided i will have a look at this but on the census records I have it says he was born either 1802 or 1806 unless he was lying on the census.

Thanks Hepburn for the marriage information this means that Ann Harman either pregnant or had a baby before the marriage as their first child Emma was born in 1821.

I have posted the below in the Buckinghamshire topics i have also decided to post on this board  as well as the John Rose b c1806 may have come from Chippenham, Wiltshire I am trying to find any siblings or his dad i think his mothers name was Priscilla any help would be appreciated.

John Rose married Ann Harmon haven't managed to find any marriage for them at the moment

they had the following children

Emma 1821
James 1823
Eliabeth 1828
Charles 1830
Abraham 1832
Lucey 1835
Louisa 1838
John 1839
Carolne 1843
George 1845
Thomas 1847

These children i have managed to find on the 1841 and 1851 census's i also believe that their was possible at least one other child Mary b1826?  All the children and Ann Harmon were born in Little Marlow Bucks.  I also believed that John Rose was born in Little Marlow, Bucks but having found him on the 1851 census it says his birth town was in Chippenham in Wiltshire an his mum was Priscilla also born in Chippenham, Wiltshire how would i go about verifying this and finding out John fathers name.

Also it mentions the John's occupation was Alms of Parish does anyone know what this would have been.

The Roses I am looking for are the ancestors or descendant's of Charles Rose and his parents John Rose and Ann born in Little Marlow in Buckinghamshire I am researching for my husbands grandparents his grandmother is a direct descendant of John Rose and Ann.

Thank you so much for all your help and information provided it has been so helpful.  I have gone up the wrong family from Charles Rose I went up the other family with his parents being Robert and Susannah Rose I had a feeling that i had gone up the wrong line.

Thank you Rosie for finding the census record for the family. 

Now to find out where all this extra information takes me.

I have finally got the marriage certificat of William Rose and Ann Maria Barnes which confirms the father as Charles Rose which is good as this is the family I have gone up.  My next problem is that there are two Charles Rose my question if anone can help is the family i'm looking for all come from Spring Gardens Little Marlow does anyone know where Marlow Moore in Little Marlow would have been.  I have go one Charles Rose living at Spring Gardens and one at Marlow Moore in the 1841 census.

I would be grateful if anyon can help me with this.

I have sent for the marriage certificate of William Rose and Ann Maria Barnes and am just waiting for it to arrive so i can confirm who Williams father is.  My next question is if Williams father is Charles Rose and mother Harriet Twitchen who is Charles Rose family as now i have found two Charles Roses

John Rose & Ann with children
Robert Rose & Susannah with children

Charles is an ag lab on 1851 census or a water cress labourer depending on which is my Charles.
