Ireland / Re: Lenan - Kelly & McLoughlin families
« on: Saturday 09 August 08 19:34 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Andrew,
for taking the time to reply to my posting. Inishowen has came up several times in my research as regards my family names, Lenan was one of several places which came up with the 2 family names ie Kelly & McLoughlin, but Lenan was the only place to have the 2 names Kelly & McLoughlin, other places had Kelly & McLaughlin/McLaughan, (if that makes any sense  :-\)
Its just so frustrating as I am unable to find births or a marriage for my Kelly's, all I have is on his death cert is Ireland!!
Im actually hoping to get some resources for Lenan to further my search in obtaining something solid on my Kelly's & McLoughlins!!
Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

Australia / Re: Daniel Kelly of Derry Ireland
« on: Friday 08 August 08 23:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am unsure if this is any help as regards this topic, but here goes-
I have a Daniel Kelly & Patrick Kelly in my line of Kelly's, my Daniel was born in 1825/1826 Ireland, at some point Daniel and family came to Port Glasgow, Scotland. Daniel got married 1843 Ireland to a Cecelia McLoughlin, between a daughter which was born in 1850 Ireland and a daughter which was born in 1855 Port Glasgow, Scotland, I cannot find a birth or marriage for him in Ireland, and cannot determine if he came to Scotland from Ireland or went to Australia or any other country first.
Why is it always the Kelly's which give us the problems :D

Hi, I think, after many many years of research I have finally discovered where my family of Kelly's & McLoughlin's have came from in Ireland. ;D
99% sure they are from a place called Lenan!
I was wondering if someone can offer any useful resources which may be helpful in researching more of about Lenan and the families which lived here during the 1800's.
Thanking in advance

Hi Molly
I have Kelly's in my family all from Port Glasgow, although I don't have a Joseph Kelly, if you get any more information on your Joseph Kelly i.e brothers sisters etc let me know, they might link up with my line and I may be able to help you in your research.

Donegal / Kelly - McLoughlin
« on: Wednesday 20 February 08 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
I'm hoping for some help with my brick wall regarding a Daniel Kelly & a Cecily (cecelia, ciciley) McLoughlin. Trying to track the home town which they were born (for 3or4 years now), so I am posting all the available info I have about them in the hope someone can offer any advice/information relating to them.
Daniel Kelly born 1825/1826 Ireland parents John Kelly & Ellen Devlin
married Cecily Mcloughlin also born 1825/1826 in Ireland 1843  Cecily's parents Michael Mcloughlin
 & Elizabeth Hooten(or houten)
After trying to research their location in Ireland I'm hoping that it may possibly be Clonmany as all the surnames listed above i.e kelly, devlin, mcloughlin, hooten are found only in clonmany.
daniel & Cecily had the following children in Ireland- Michael Kelly born 1848 & Ellen Kelly born 1850, there may possibly be more children that were born in Ireland but I have been unsuccessful searching this.
Sometime later Cecelia & daniel came to Port Glasgow in Scotland and had more children there i.e
Bridget kelly born 1855  eliza kelly born 1857 Daniel kelly born 1860 patrick kelly born 1862
I have an 1861 census for port glasgow which states cecily & daniel had lodgers staying with them from Ireland Eunity Connar age 60   Catherine Connar age 17 Catherine Sweeney aged 20. Maybe they were relatives???
Daniel Kelly died on 18 June 1886 in Port Glasgow  aged 60 and his wife Cecily died 7 days later on 25 June 1886 also port glasgow and aged 60 years.
I am praying maybe someone can relate to this family of kelly's because after 3or4 years trying to track an exact location for them I am totally frustrated :'( so please help anybody!! (this is me at the desperate stage now of begging) lol.
thanking in advance
Fiona
