Hi.

This could be a newspaper picture/photograph of the Egremont Football Team ?  Are there enough players or have I got half a photograph ?
Would the type of boots and shin-guards they are wearing be appropriate to 1898 - 1900 ish ?

Any help appreciated.
Thank You.

Hi

Please could someone help with the date of this photo of my husbands great-grandmother which I have just received from USA.
The lady in the picture was born in 1850.  They had sons in 1874 & 1878, a daughter in 1880, another son in 1883, followed by 2 more daughters in 1886 & 1888.
I have to presume this is one of the sons with one of the daughters but have to try & work out which ones by ages.

Hope someone can help.

Thank You.

Cumberland Completed Lookups / MATTHEW MILLS & JANE COMPLETED
« on: Monday 08 June 09 21:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi.
Can anyone help to find Matthew Mills born 1804 or 1807 Carlisle & Jane born 1807 Carlisle.
They come under Meals in 1841 & Mills in 1851 but disappear after that.  Matthew possibly died in 1862.
Only a short surname but the transcribers have had a problem with it.
Thank You.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / JAMES KIRKBY 1871 OF WHITBECK. CUMBERLAND.
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 11:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi.

James Kirkby born 1871 the son of Henry Kirkby & Elizabeth appears on the 1881 census with his parents & then on the 1891 census as a servant in Cleator.
James marries Sarah Murray in 1899 - Whitehaven District.  I know they stay in Cumberland & have 10 children up until 1922.

Can anyone see them on 1901 census with the first born son William - they seem to have disappeared for some reason.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Down / THOMAS CRILLY AND MARY CRONIN MARRIAGE
« on: Friday 29 May 09 22:55 BST (UK)  »
Coincidentally, we have a marriage between Thomas CRILLY 1846 Kilanney. County Down to Mary CRONIN 1843 County Down.  This marriage took place at Cleator. Cumberland. in  1868.

Could these families have lived near each other in Ireland.

Thank You.

Down / Thomas CRONIN of County Down
« on: Friday 29 May 09 22:39 BST (UK)  »
This is a very big ask but can anyone help to tie these pieces together.

Thomas CRONIN (the spelling tends to be awful on the English census - 1891 he was ORIMEN)

Thomas Cronin born 1845 to Francis Cronin. Thomas married Sarah Jane Atkinson in Whitehaven District. Cumberland in 1869.  Thomas died in Egremont. Cumberland in 1898.
His father Francis died at Cleator Moor in 1870 - age 64 years so that makes his birth 1806 County Down.
Thomas had a sister Mary born 1843 - Catherine born 1849 &  a brother Francis born 1854.
Francis & Mary both married and stayed in Cumberland.  Catherine may have returned to Ireland.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / CRONIN FAMILY OF EGREMONT
« on: Thursday 28 May 09 13:31 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone help me to help a friend.
She is looking for a Thomas Cronin 1845 Ireland who appears on the 1881 IGI household record with Sarah his wife born 1849 Whitehaven and son Francis born June 1877 Whitehaven District 10b 685. So far no trace of a marriage. Francis we have found buried at Egremont in 1958.
Thomas may have a brother (or son ) born 1863 called Francis who married a Mary !!
Any other census information would be brilliant.

Thank You

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Sarah Bridget Topping 1817 St Peters. Liverpool
« on: Friday 22 May 09 20:38 BST (UK)  »
My 2 x great-grandmother Sarah Bridget Topping was christened 25 Dec 1817 St Peters. Liverpool.
Her parents listed on an IGI record as John Topping & Mary Ann.
Sarah married in Cumberland in March 1838 to William Moore.
Her father John Topping may have been a mariner which is why she could have ended up in Cumberland.
Have never found any trace of her parents or other siblings.
Can anyone help me break down the brick wall.

Thank You.
Sandra
