Hi

Just looked in my purse  Theres an old double memorial card to a Michael and Hanora Murphy  A mystery but I'm sure it must be linked I put it there when I found it and did start a little bit of research which I've started but need to  find  A mystery though.  I cant think why it would be in this house if its not linked  I think I decided there were Michaels father and son as he died just before WW1

I'll photobut  Dates are:

Michael Murphy of Ballywalter died March 23rd 1913 aged 70 years

Mrs Hanoria Murphy also of Ballywalter, died May 1st 1913 aged 72 years RIP
The photos have a look of the family I have in a photo at Blarney street

More digging coming up!

Best wishes

Hi all

This is very exciting and quite confusing!

I will have to do some digging and I'll warn you it may not be fast!

I've recently taken over the house mt grandmother had  There is loads of family stuff and I did loads with my aunt who died recently  She would have been a great help!  Im just getting back to this

Blarney Street and Murphys are one of our mysteries and I've uncovered a couple of bits

What I'm doing now is from memory.  There was a big link to a family at one Blarney Street  I think one generation were Murphys.  We have a Michael  I think Murphy  They were a great friend of a great aunt in Salford but my grandad married to her sister, visited them at one Blarney street in Cork  They were links through the army from WW1

He was in the Connaught Rangers and based in Cork  In fact he went back to one Blarney Street when he first came back from war.  Some of your Christian names are familiar but I need to do some looking up  Not quick while I'm sorting out!

They may also be relatives and I was intrigued by the mention of Carolls who are mentioned a lot in our family

I will have to have a look and get back

Thank you for this fascinating post

Best wishes

Not really the time but they have quite a number of electoral registers and directories in the Local Studies Library ijn the Atkinson ib Southport  I tracked a strnd of my family fairly well through them and also the cemetery looked up a burial and cremation for mr given a date but it's not an easy time for all that in various ways.

Take care

Hi

Apologies everyone I owe a reply about anything. I’m only just getting back to this

I’m shielding and have the latest letter

However if there were more??

As far as non medical ones are concerned they are for other people  So a hundred thousand and one people each protecting the other one hundred thousand where distancing isn’t possible is better than not even if not perfect

If someone coughs or sneezes by me I’d like to be protected

That’s not the full story though. There are problems with children, breathing difficulties, bad practice etc

I would find it very difficult with my condition but I’ll try and keep out if it bar the odd appointment

Take care

Hi

We had to miss our reunion for a friends special birthday but we arranged a time for a face time party as we grandly called it with our cakes and drinks in our various houses

We had a hilarious couple of hours of chat and fun with a memory quiz mostly guess the person or event or place etc with clues including photos and clue Reminder  items shown or mentioned such as a pot cat

As we met when we started work you can imagine it was soMehta hilarious. We also sang Happy Birthday and had a birthday candle and pets and new homes and hobbies and music were swapped

A bit of fun among trying times

Take care

Hi
I knew they weren’t in Carlisle

Also although all the Cumbria record offices have a copy of all the registers on the whole other original records are kept only at the local record office thoughsome have been digitised

So worth visiting locally. Not quite that simple due to for one thing not splitting an archive
When I went to Whitehavenvthe local office for Cockermouth I awash pleased to see the records

The online index should tell you though

Good luck

Hi
Not sure which work house you’re interested in. I’ve used Cockermouth records but not Carlisle

Also you might need the right area branch of Cumbria record office  I only found Cockermouth in Whitehaven

I think they may be on line by now

Best wishes
