Hello Margs,
re: your irregular marriages recorded in Border Papers offer.
would there possibly be mention of a John Henderson and Ann Martin who were married 29 December 1836 at Gretna Green? I presume if it is mentioned it would be the following year in January. He was from the Allendale area and she was from Haltwhistle.
Would appreciate any help.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / suicide of William Brown
« on: Friday 26 June 09 06:29 BST (UK)  »
William Brown of South Lodge, Minsteracres, Espershields committed suicide by hanging 4 Mar 1932. Inquest was held on the 5th of March 1932.
I am wondering if anyone has access to a newspaper of the area that may have carried a report?
Perhaps the Newcastle Courant, or the Hexham Courantor even a Durham newspaper? The death registration is in the Hexham reg. District, but If I google the address it shows a photo of South Lodge, Minsteracres for sale in Consett Co. Durham? Perhaps the area has changed counties at some time? Would appreciate any help.
Thank you

Northumberland / Re: Searching for Redshaw roots
« on: Friday 26 June 09 00:13 BST (UK)  »
hello,
I think the name chatham was just wrongly transcribed. It looks like Jonathan in the 1881 census to me.
the 1871 census Biddlestone,
 ( RG 10/ 5196) shows
Jonathan and Jane age 26 with children
Andrew 9
ann 4
Adam 3
Eleanor 2
that would make her 17 when her first child was born in 1872, I think.

Hello,
There is a William Gooch in the 1881 Census (RG11/737) of Lewisham London, born Longbenton Nbld. age 5
Father is Alfred, mother SARAH.
also shows Georgina gooch age 7, Edward Gooch age 6.
perhaps Alfred married twice, or three times even. ?

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: date of photo
« on: Friday 23 January 09 21:10 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for all your help. I am sending a re scan of the original photo. It scans poorly. The original is very faint, brown and yellow tone, but the scan comes out blue! The back of the photo card has nothing on it, and the size is about 4 1/4" x 6 1/2". Is this consistent with the 1880's?

Thank you so much Diddy.... I must have missed the notificatiion of this reply earlier. This really helps, I had been unable to find her husband's death record and there he is - John George 1920.

If anyone lives near the cemetery,  I would love a photo of the stone! I know it is a lot to ask, but no harm in trying.
Thanks again
