Hello,
Can any kind soul recognise (and hopefully translate) the highlighted words on the attached Dutch birth certificate from August 1903.
I believe they relate to the date and time of birth, which I believe was on 24th August,
Thank you.
John

You're correct, of course, but I've searched the GRO with mother's maiden name of LAZENBY.
Unfortunately, the GRO doesn't allow for wildcards to be used, e.g., in the Surnname, and FindMyPast's birth records showing mother's maiden name is incomplete.

Yes, I believe her mother was a COOPER.

Have you already discounted the 1900 birth on Scotlands People?

EDIT

Ignore - 1901 shows different parents

I've looked for births, marriages (her parents, and any subsequent marriage she might've had), divorces, deaths, censuses (England & Wales, Scotland and Ireland), 1939 Register, etc., on FreeBMD, GRO, ScotlandsPeople, Ancestry, FindMyPast, IrishGenealogy, FamilySearch, GenesReunited, MyHeritage, etc.

I've also tried looking using alternate spellings, i.e., METCALF and Maude.

None of the ones that might fit prove to match a LAZENBY mother.

I'm just hoping someone researching METCALFEs might know of a LAZENBY link in the right timeframe.

Her husband (wasn't a widower - at least I can find no other legal marriage for him), He was a liar, cheat, con-man, an animal abuser, and a fraud who used multiple different aliases including CODY (he claimed to be the son of Buffalo BILL, despite coming from Bradford!), so she might have used another name, but I have looked for her under CODY.

PS:

He shot and wounded one assistant ("wife") on stage in 1899. Accidentally shot and killed another stage assistant in 1909, and shot himself "accidentally" in the foot the day before World War 1 began in 1914.

Hello,
I'm looking for more details of an Alice Maud METCALFE, born about 1897, who married a Samuel Raven GALE in Glasgow in 1917.
She was a 20 year-old professional dancer; he was a 47 year-old "horse breaker", and a musical hall variety artiste.
Her parents were recorded on the marriage certificate as George METCALFE and Mary LAZENBY.
I don't know whether Alice Maud METCALF was Scottish or not. Samuel GALE was from Bradford and toured music halls all over the UK.
I haven't been able to find any other trace of her, or her parents.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Montgomeryshire / Re: A parish called "Pantygamell"?

Brilliant!

I was actually looking for an Evan JONES who was a weaver, rather than a miller, and your link proves it was the right guy.

FYI: I made a slight error in my original posting the "Parent's parish" of "Pantygamell" was actually "Parent's residence".

Thank you so much.

Montgomeryshire / A parish called "Pantygamell"?
« on: Sunday 22 December 19 09:05 GMT (UK)  »
Can any kind soul please help me find a parish called "Pantygamell" (or something that looks like that)?

It appears in a Non-Conformist Births And Baptisms listing (attached) of the 1817 and 1814 baptisms of Sion & Ann JONES, the children of Evan and Jane JONES [Calvinistic Methodist Bethel Chapel in Llanidloes].

The father's parish is listed as Trefeglwys, the "Parent's parish" (I assume this was the mother's parish) looks like "Pantygamell".

Thanks.

John

The Monumental Inscriptions at Redhills are also available via Family Search, but the name McElroy doesn't appear on the list I'm afraid https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS13-HS4?i=1479&cat=1188616

Does that imply that there's no headstone?
