Thanks, Dawn, but neither Islington Register Office, the UK General record Office, nor I can find any trace of this previous civil marriage. I have also searched GenesReunited, Ancestry, FindMyPast and the internet, but can't find anything.
Maybe they got married outside Great Britain, but they were only about 27 and 22, and they did get the civil marriage consecrated in Islington.
Cheers,
John

I have subsequently discovered that he spelling of the man's (middle and last) name was wrong. It should have been William Erridge Morison.

I have since managed to find the parish register, which  shows that they had a Catholic ceremony on 12th April 1922, but this was to consecrate a civil ceremony performed the previous year in April 1921 (don't know where, though).

I cannot, however, find any record of their civil marriage. There was an April 1921 marriage in Islington, of a William MORISON, but it's to an Irene ANTLEY. The only Irene Antley I can find in Ancestry.com is one born in Lancashire in 1910; she'd have been too young to get married aged 12. There is no Irene ANTLEY in the 1911 census. Curious and curiouser ...

Thanks.
The Susan McElroy, born 1900 in Latedrum (actually Leitrim, Drumgooland, County Down), in the 1911 census is the one I'm trying to find a marriage for.
A birth record I got from the Ulster History Foundation database has a comment about a 12/04/1922 marriage at st. John's in Islington to William Eridge Morrison, but no source/reference.
The family moved to Islington some time after 1911, and I've managed to find the record of the marriage of Susan/Susanna's sister, Margaret to Marcel Joseph Paquier in Islington in Oct-Nov-Dec 1922, but not the one I want.
Maybe the church can help out, if their records are not transcribed somewhere else.
Best wishes,
John

Could some kind soul help me with a look-up in the parish records for St. John's, Islington, please?
I'm looking for a 12/04/1922 marriage between Susan/Susanna McElroy and a William Eridge Morrison, at St. John's in Islington.
I think this is a Catholic church, as my McElroys are/were Irish catholics.
I'm not sure if the date refers to 12th April 1922 or possibly 4th December 1922 (under the American notation).
Also, I don't know if Eridge is a middle name or the first part of a double-barreled last name.
I've tried searching the National Archive registration of marriages, and internet searches, etc., but have not been able to find anything.
I'd be very grateful if some could look up the parish register for that day.
Thanks.
John

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Pontblyddyn look-up please
« on: Monday 15 December 08 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if some kind soul could please do a look up for Pontbyddyn for me.
Elizabeth PRICE (spinster, of full age) married Richard WILLIAMS (blacksmith, of full age) on October 20th 1849.
They were both living at New Inn Yard, Pontbyddyn, at the time. His father was William WILLIAMS (Tailor) and hers was William PRICE (miller).
They had a number of children (Robert, b1851; Anne, b1853; Mary, b1854-56); William, b1860-63; and Richard Caleb, b1865.
I would like to focus in on Mary, who is my great grandmother.
A few years ago, another kind soul very kindly visited the registry office, and was able to get me details of the births of her siblings, Robert (May 27 1851) and Anne (December 26 1853), but wasn't sure of the birth month for Mary (27th,
possibly November), though thought it was 1856.
I would be very grateful if someone could do a look up for me.
As an aside, I would also be interested to learn if anyone has any information about New Inn Yard, Pontblyddyn.
By the way, there's a family rumor that Mary (or maybe her mother, Elizabeth PRICE), was in prison at some point (as an inmate, or as an employee, I don't know), possibly in Shropshire (Shrewsbury?).
Best wishes,
John
