I think you have hit the right man here.
This looks very much like the marriage of Gus ...and it ties up with the 1880 census.[ wifes name and first child called Barbar[a].

jumping to conclusions here and i mustn't do that but
Grandfather is a James and i am looking for a James so ??

1890 census is no good as he wouldn't have been born  and I was told that 1900 is burnt  so it is 1910 census .... and he might be to old to be home then,  so could be anywhere?

 This certainly helps in as much as it has given one name that might lead to the rest of the family.
I am actually looking for James Joseph Daley [Dailey ]     who was born in about 1892... and who gives his father as Gus Dailey .[Is it to much to think that I have found the right family just need to pin point them when he is with them!] could be that Gus is dead and that family are with Mother? or split up

 Think that I am possibly taking on more than I expected but certainly your help has been very much appreciated
