Hi Claire,

Thanks for the look ups! I only discovered this branch of my tree the other day - I didn't even know about the other children, so that is a very pleasant suprise! ;D I'll have to look and see if I can find a marriage for Elizabeth!

Many thanks again,
millerina  :)

Please could somebody have a look for this family in the 1891 and 1901 census?:

Henry Kirk b.1859 St Pancras Occ: General Dealer
Sarah Kirk b.1861 St Pancras
and their daughter:
Elizabeth Kirk b.1881 St Pancras

They should hopefully be in the St Pancras area of London!

Many thanks,

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: The Cox family on the 1841 census
« on: Thursday 05 February 09 17:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Ewan

I found this possibility for the family in 1841 on freecen:

HO107/1148/10 Folio 28 Page 16
Birmingham - Civil Parish: Aston (Deritend)

Ryland St Bordersley

Thos Cox (Male) age 25 b.Warwickshire Occ: Plan Maker
Hannah Cox (Female) age 25 b. Outside census county
Thos Cox (Male) age 3 b.Warwickshire

On the next page there is a William Cox Male age: "above twenty" birthplace unknown.

Possibility for Hannah:

HO107/1148/6 Folio 9 page 10
Aston (Deritend)

Lombard St Deritend

William Woodell (Male) age 50 Occ: Fire Iron Maker
Hannah Woodell (Female) age 50
Mary Woodell (Female) age 20 Occ: Dress Maker
Hannah Richards (Female) age 14 Occ: Female servant
Hannah Cox (Female) age 5 b. Warwickshire

- All except Hannah Cox born Outside census County.

Looks like the Woodells were relations? From the IGI:
Thomas Cox married Hannah Woodall 06 October 1834 Aston Juxta Birmingham, Warwick, England.

Also just noticed a family of Woodalls living next door to the Cox Family!:

Ryland St Bordersley

Job Woodall (Male) age 40 Occ:Fire Iron Maker (Journeyman)
Hannah Woodall (Female) age 45
Job Woodhall (Male) age 15 Occ: Apprentice Plain Maker
William Woodall (Male) age 15 Occ: Journeyman Fire Iron Maker
George Woodall (Male) age 9 born Warwickshire

All except George born outside census county.

Hope this helps a bit,
millerina

I'm sure I have heard somewhere (can't remember where though, so might well be wrong!) that Clay Hall was the original name for Walkern Hall, which is right next to Clay End. Clay End is tiny, much smaller than a village, so possibly it would be classed as a hamlet?

www.old-maps.co.uk  - search using the coordinates 530500, 225200 for an 1884 map of clay end and Walkern Hall

Hope this helps!

It does seem such a shame that they couldn't have built those flats somewhere else and left that poor old house alone. :-\ I agree, definitely not the mystery house though...

PS - removed the other links because they don't work..  ;)

Hi all,

This map site gives you a slightly better view of Moreton House than google maps does, and you can view it from 4 angles!

http://maps.live.com

Just zoom in on Wolstanton, then when you are near enough, click "Bird's eye" and use the compass in the top left corner to change the angle, and the magnifying glass to zoom in. The church looks stunning on this site!  ;D ;D Enjoy!

Thanks for all the interesting info, I'll have to have a look and see if any of his relations died of this illness.

I just hope it was all very quick and painless for my poor ancestor! :'(

Many thanks again,
