« on: Thursday 11 October 07 23:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I've been tracing the Endean family of St Gluvias for an aunt and have traced them from St Gluvias, back thorugh Gerrans to Philleigh and have arrived at a Robert Endean b. c1796. I can't find him anywhere except the 1841 census! Does anyone know this family and have info they could share?
kind regards
Damien

Cornwall / Re: CARLYONS from Cornwall

HI
I'm of Carlyon descent, though my tree is a little disjointed due to a mistake in it somewhere - I know its there, just haven't tracked it yet!
Mine come from St Hilary and Breage - I'm sure its more likely I fit in with the St Keverne lot than the St Austell lot, but I'm back with a degree of certainty to John Carlyon b. 25/4/1791 Breage, who married Margaret Carter b. 17/1/1796 Breage

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841-1871 Look-up request please :)

Hi
Many thanks to you both for your help :)
William married in 1878 in Devonport to Elizabeth Ann Pearce of Lostwithiel, so that much I know. I did a search on the IGI for WIlliam and came up with a chap b. 1852 son of Richard & Eleanor. Now usually you can see which is likeliest as the children tended to be named after the father, grandfather etc, but there are no clues at all amongst William's children which is a little frustrating. His second son was William, named for himself I would think, which would indicate that the eldest son, Henry, would be named for WIlliam's father - but no Henry's about :( Are there other Shropshire resources I could try in order to find out - or can |I push my luck and see if anyone can find a Henry for me :)
Its not a place I've ever had to research - being Cornish, and bearing in mind where Cornwall is, my ancestors tended to marry other Cornish people as there wasn't much choice! Researching anything the other side of the Tamar is a bit alien to me, (though there is some Cheshire and Isle of Wight ancestry I have) So if anyone can help me further I'd be even more grateful than I am already to Tati & MaryA :)
kind regards
Damien

Hi
I'm doing a bit of research into my aunts father (my mother's stepsister). Her great grandfather was a chap called William Shutt or Shute who according to the 1881 census was born in 1853 in Oswestry. He was in the Royal Marine's based in Devonport aboard the Impregnable. I'd quite liike to know who his parents were and if he had any siblings, so if someone wouldn't mind looking into this for me, I'd be very grateful
kind regards
