The more I look into this the less likely that the Wrights of Eyam Hall are her bloodline.

I have found a probable marriage. 22 Apr 1771 marriage of John Wright of Parish of St Mary's Stafford to Mary Tomkinson parish of Eccleshall.

I also have 4 children:
Martin John Wright b. Mar 1772, m.Sarah Prinsep 5 Apr 1826 Seighford, Staffs, d. Apr 1854 Stafford.
Elizabeth Wright b. 3 Feb 1776 Stafford, d. 1835 Longton, m. William Turner.
Ann Wright b. 1877 Stafford.
Mary Wright b. 19 Sept 1799 Stafford.

In the book "The Turners of Lane End" the author states John Wright Snr was a Banker. I have never found this fact anywhere.

IGI simpply says he was of Stafford.

I haven't really looked for this line for some 6 years now however I do show a baptism as 14th Feb 1776 at St, Mary's Church Stafford. It also showed the birth date as 3rd Feb 1776.

And that is all I have on her other than her death 1835 Longton Staffordshire (6 children)

I had planned to search for 2 sons next but this Derbyshire Forum is the wrong county to search in

You are starting to find the blanks that I was finding although I had not looked for Wills.
Lane End changed it's name to Longton 1846 if my memory is correct.
The area of Lane End I would have thought was no place for a banker to live at this time because of all the pollution from the potteries.
I guess I was looking for the easy way out by first checking where I believe there will be a family tree.

I'm looking for a family tree of the Wrights of Eyam Hall

Basically I'm trying to find the family line of an Elizabeth Wright who married William Turner 9 Oct 1799 ... St Mary, Stafford. Her father was a John Wright (Banker) and mother was a Mary.

Now I know it appears that she was from Stafford but my initial early searches have come up blank. William Turners brother married well into the Hyde family so I'm thinking that so may have my William. I'm thinking that her father John Wright may have been one of the lesser sons of the Wrights of Eyam Hall.

If I could find a tree then I could disprove this thought and move the search back into Stafford.

I do have this Staffordshire Advertiser notice:
MARRIED.
Staffordshire Advertiser Staffordshire, England 12 Oct 1799
laft (last), St. Mary's church in this town, William Turner, Esq. of Lane End, Wright, eldest daughter John Wright Esq of Lane End, Wright, eldest daughter John Wright Esq. banker, Stafford.

Okay ... so you have done your Australian research which reveals a marriage in 1853 and probably the actual date. As it was a marriage by licence then the licence itself will hold other information on his parents as well as where Joseph and Jane were living. (even if it simply says 'Of this Parish').

NSW BDM reveals 14 births to a Joseph & Jane Lewis over 50 years (11 at Bathurst) The one that caught my eye was 'Mary A Lewis' born 1854. I would pay for a transcription to obtain the actual birth date to compare with the known parents marriage date.

So you already have the possible names of her parents. I have no reason to doubt that information unless she was intentionally trying to escape Ireland. So with that I'd be placing a posting on these Roots Chat pages (Ireland) looking for marriage information for them. Also comment that your Jane has a possible birth place and date of Enniskillen abt 1832 (realise that it is in Northern Ireland). Being Nothern Ireland there is a better chance to find her birth as well as her parents marriage in an Anglican Parish Register. I wish I knew more on finding Irish records.

Good Luck

We need to confirm a few things first
Jane Noble ... is that he maiden name or married name.
Have you searched NSW BDM for the births of her 16 children?
If so what surname??

Elijah Budden (husband of Harriet Cole) that died in Meroo (Wyndeyer) near Mudgee 1873 would have been buried in the garden at the back of the Diggers Arms Hotel in Windeyer. He is not in the local cemetery.

From an 1860's map I now have the location of the hotel. The graves of Elijah Budden, Mary Cowle, Frederick Wingrave & Phoebe Stirrup are not marked and will be presumably in the corner of what is now a ploughed paddock

Sorry for the late reply but I'm only getting my computer back to some form of normal after installing WIN10.
Trying to get my head back into this thread regarding Doolans which is my cousins fathers line.

wivenhoe
I haven't purchased a copy of this death certificate as it is not my direct family line but I can quote NSW BDM 13127/1899. I just might have to if things fail to fall into place soon.
It may or may not prove that he was the John Doolan that arrived on the David McIver 1852 with Mary & William.
Yes I know that there were a number of Doolans already in Australia however NSW BDM reveals no records of the birth of a John Doolan prior to 1852. There were 5 Doolan marriages prior to 1852.
This indicates that the John Doolan of the David McIver is more likely to be correct.

Both Libby9 and Maggsie has probably accessed the NSW State Records site for that data ... Thank You!
They reveal the shipping record lists him as of  "Tubbrid, County Tipperary, Ireland". I'm now left with the links provided by Sinann which are rather interesting. When I have time I'll try studying them.

Many thanks
Regards Rob

The Common Room / Looking for the native place of John Doolan abt. 1832-1899

I am chasing the family line of my cousins g/grandfather "John Doolan". From his death record he was born abt 1831. Died 1899 Glen Innes NSW Australia.

I have found an Assisted Immigrant record of a John Doolan who arrived on the David McIver 1852 aged 20 which reveals a birth year of 1832 so it is likely to be him. He arrived with a brother and sister "Mary" aged 18. Unfortunately the NSW Records Office has a broken link so I cannot see the actual page itself. I do know he was catholic and with a name like Doolan I expect he will be Irish.

My research into the ship reveals it loaded at Liverpool as well as Plymouth where it left 31 Dec 1851 with 4 cabin passengers and 344 Govt. Emigrants in steerage.

So can anybody advise me if I can find the embarkation records for the ship at Liverpool and Plymouth? I am hoping to find his place of birth or native place listed before I start searching for Baptism records.

Any other suggestions would be gratefully received.

Rob
