Hi Mike,

Do you have an interest in Peter McGrory? Is he one of your ancestors? If so I would like to discuss his life further with you.

Thanks,
Megan

Thank you for responding, unfortunately I can't take you up on your offer of converting them for me.

Somehow in trying to open then on various programs that I have on my computer. I have corrupted the disc. Now nothing happens.

So I will have to ask her to send it all to me again unfortunately! I don't think she knows how to convert them herself, as she is in her 80's. So I will probably get them the same way again.

If you dont mind I would like to take up your offer sometime in the next few weeks if that is okay. The files are very small and are all text files. Church records of Bap, Marr, and deaths.

Thank you,

Megan

Hi,

I am really hoping someone on here can help. I received a CD of records today in the mail and the person put all of the files on Microsoft Works. I don't know what version of it is but most likely 4.0.

I cannot open these files and I was hoping someone can help me convert them to a different type of file. The files end in WDB.

Thank you,

Megan

Hi John,

My source of Bridget Collins parentage is from a cousin in Ireland who contacted the parish priest where Bridget Collins got married and it listed her parents and when she was baptized.  The information that he gave me is -

Charles Collins of Armagh  md. Eleanor McQuillan of Monaghan

children -

Mary Ann Collins-  b. 8 Jan 1850 in Lower Killeavy, Armagh

Margaret Collins - b. 23 Sep 1852

Charles Collins - b. 1853 no month or day for him

Sarah Collins - b. 1854

Thomas Collins - no dates at all

Elizabeth Collins - b. 21 Jan 1855 she married a man named Finnegan

Bridget Collins - b 1856  in Crossnera, Armagh  and she married James McGrory on 17 Jul 1875 in Keady, Armagh.

The name Hugh McQuillan shows up on the baptismal record for one of the above Collins children. I am thinking that the Hugh McQuillan was probably a brother to Eleanor.

I am sorry but that is all of the information that I have on this line so far.

I do have one certificate of birth from a pay per view site of the birth of Mary Ann Collins that lists her parents as -
Charles Collins and Ellen McQuillan

sponsors were - John OHare and Mary Collins.

I hope this helps and doesn't add to your confusion.

Megan

Hi,

Although I have very little to add to your search, I thought I would let you know that I also have a McQuillan in my family tree from Co. Monaghan.

Eleanor McQuillan born circa 1815 in Co. Monaghan

married a Charles Collins , they had 7 children, 1 of them being -

Bridget Collins b. 1856 in Crossnera, Keady, Armagh. Godparent of this Bridget Collins is a Hugh McQuillan.

They were Roman Catholic. If that helps.

Regards,
Megan

Hi Veldboy,

I am sorry to say that I do not have any more information on the McGrory siblings. I have hit a brickwall with the siblings.

I would be interested in knowing whether your Michael McGrory is the son of Francis and Catherine.Do you have a marriage certificate for your Michael and Sarah?

My gg grandfather James McGrory married Bridget Collins and they lived in Carrackaduff, Keady, Co Armagh til his death in 1909.

One of their sons, named Michael enlisted in WWI  0n 21 Sep 1915 in the Machine Gun Corps and died 2 Nov 1918 in Belgium.

I will continue to try and find a connection between your family and mine and hopefully we will both come up with something.

Please keep in touch,

Megan

Hi Again Mickwally,

Here is the information that I have uncovered for my McPoland side -

William McPolin/McPoland married a Catherine McMahon (no dates)

Children of William and Catherine -

*Mary McPoland - b. 18 Aug 1844 in Shanrod married Peter Farrell in Bainbridge RC

Mary McPoland and Peter Farrell had -

Catherine Teresa Farrell- b. 25 Mar 1880 in Shanrod married Francis O'Neill in Scotland (witness a Catherine's baptism was Patrick McPoland and Sarah Graham or Garvey)

Francis Joseph Farrell - b. 23 Mar 1882 in Glasgow, married and died in Scotland

William Charles Farrell -b. 7 Jan 1885 in Glasgow, married and died in Scotland

[/b]*Patrick McPoland[/b] - b. no dates    , married Sarah Garvey 1 Nov 1883 in Bainbridge RC

 Patrick and Sarah had -

William Peter b. 31 Jul 1886 in Tulliyish
Charles b. 21 May 1888 in Tullyish

[/b]*Catherine McPoland[/b] -b. no dates , married John Lavery, 24 Jun 1877 in Bainbridge RC

Catherine and John had -

Mary  - b. no date of birth, but a Mary Lavery was a witness to the marriage of her cousin in Scotland( child of Peter Farrell and Mary McPoland)

*William  McPoland- b. no dates,  and I haven't found a marriage for William yet

When Peter Farrell died and left Mary McPoland a widow she moved the family from Scotland back to Ireland to live with her brother William. (this information was on Mary McPoland Farrells poor law recordsin Scotland)

The only other information I have on the McPoland side is from family stories, it is said that one of Mary Farrells brothers owned a Pub/Saloon or something to that extent in Ireland and that she had invested in it also(maybe just helped out while she was living with her brother)

That is all I have uncovered so far on the McPoland side. William McPoland  and Catherine MCMahon could have had more children than the 4 that I have listed but I have'nt found them yet.

If any of this fits with your neighbors, please let me know.

Thank you,
Megan
