Travelling People / Flescher, Traveller, Butcher, Journeyman, and Ship's Chandler
« on: Tuesday 29 January 08 20:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have been doing research and on various documents for one of my for a member in my family. He is always listed as a traveller, butcher, flescher and Journeyman.

My family word of mouth history , they always said he was a ship's chandler.

What were all of these occupations. This man died in 1886.

Lanarkshire / Old Dalbeth Cemetery, Tollcross , Glasgow

 Hi Everyone,

Was wondering if anyone ha any info on The Old Dalbeth Cemetery (also called St. Peters ) in Glasgow.

I have a relative that is buried there. His info that i have on him is :

Peter Farrell   b. ? Ireland  d. 14 Apr 1886 in Anderston, Burgh of Glasgow.

Burial - Dalbeth RC Cemetery
Crypt # 108 , single layer, east side.
Certificate # 673
Date of Puchase - 13 Jun 1863 witness, William Gimour, superintendent of cemetery.

I don't really know what  the Certificate # means. Or why he purchased a burial plot 20 years before he died. My only thinking is that his mother might be buried in the same cemetery because she died in Winter 1861.

Her info is

Ann Flood , formally Farrell , nee Devlin  b. ?  d. 25 Nov 1861 in Clyde,Glasgow

She had married a Luke Flood in Glasgow on 10 Oct 1852.

I don't know what name she would be buried under ?

Does anyone know of this Cemetery or live near it ? I would appreciate any help in finding anything out, especially what might be on the tombstone , if there still is one.

Thank you,

Megan Flanigan Townsend

Monaghan / Will Probate in Monaghan ?COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 22 November 07 15:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have found on www.emeraldancestors.com a record of a Will Probate for a Francis Flanigan died March 28, 1879 . The record states:

Record Type: Wills Calender
Will Probate: 1885
Name : Francis Flanigan
Date of Death: March 28 , 1879
County:Monaghan
Residence: Tassan
No age listed

But his grandson also Francis Flanigan was born in 1881 in Castleblayney, Monaghan and married in 1903 in Keady.

My Question is:
Where would I find a death certificate or record of death ?
Is there any site to see this Will or do I have to order it from some County  Office ? and if so , Who ?
I still am not able to find a birth registry for Francis Flanigan or a Marriage cert for him and supposedly his wife Margaret Daley ? Can anyone can help me , PLEASE ??

I have a James Flanigan son of ( Francis and Margaret (Daley) Flanigan ) who married a McQuade between 1860- 1880s in Monaghan .
I haven't found a name for the female McQuade yet. Supposedly they had 7 little Flanigans ( no names yet )
and then sometime between 1800 - 1903 some of the Flanigans moved to Scotland. Living in the Glasgow area . Motherwell, Scotland .

Maybe a connection to your McQuade ????
