Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 LOOK UP IN KILLINGWORTH

Trini, Thanks for that. I am not even sure that they were there in 1851. All I know is that my gg grandfather was according to a later census born in Killingworth abt 1846. He then married in 1870 in Heworth, Co Durham.

I have found a marriage on familysearch of Jane Simms and John BANKES. I think these might be my ggg grandparents. They were married 24th August 1835, Castle Church, Stafford. Has anyone easy access to the parish registers to check if there is any further info available. Hope someone can help me.

Thanks

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Hackney marriage
« on: Wednesday 22 December 04 12:58 GMT (UK)  »
Thankyou for looking. The problem I have is that Henry CHERRY is from Northampton and according to the 1891 census Alice was born in London. There are no marriages on 1837 online that match up with them marrying in Northampton so my next guess was that they probably married in London. I will look at the 1901 census to see if they had any children and if so order a birth cert to get her maiden name from there and hopefully then find them by looking for her surname  as well.

Thanks again

Thankyou for your reply. This is a second marriage for Henry and at this time I am just looking for Alice's surname. There may well be further children but I am not looking for these at this time. I have given up looking on FreeBMD as it is such a job to get onto it. Maybe I will have to write to the Hackney registry ofice as you say and ask them to verify details before issuing a copy.

Thanks again

Would like to be able to check marriage details before ordering a copy certificate. The marriage took place in September quarter 1890 in 'HACKNEY' 1b 952. I am looking for the marriage between Henry CHERRY & Alice  ?, can anyone help me or point me in the right direction please?

TIA, Sandra :)

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Burial in St Dunstan in the West

Due to the National Burial Index - 2nd edition we may have found an elusive ancestor. My 5g grandfather Thomas Gilchrist married in 1821 in Weedon Beck, Northamptonshire. He had three children the last being born in 1826 (Weedon Beck). In 1831 my 5g grandmother remarried (Weedon Beck). There was no sign of his death or burial locally. The NBI has a Thomas Gilchrist buried at St Dunstan in the West, City of London 14th November 1829 aged 48. Could this be him?Would anyone have access to the burial register and be able to look to see if there is any other info available on him please. We also have no idea where he came from prior to him being in Weedon serving in the RFA. The one listed at TNA is, we believe, not him as the dates do not match. TIA Sandra
