London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 HOLBORN LOOK UP PLEASE
« on: Tuesday 02 November 04 16:28 GMT (UK)  »
Cougar, Thanks for looking. You say that Jane was born out of the county, could you possibly recheck that for me please as the other member said that she was born in the county. Is/was Holborn a very large area in 1851? Would it be practical for me to visit the local record office and trawl through the whole area trying to find them? If they are not in Holborn I have no idea where to start looking next. Thanks, Sandra

Cougar, Thanks for your reply. Joseph was born at 48 Portpool Lane. I have confirmation from another source (which I did not have at the time of this request) that they were living in Portpool Lane on census night 1841. In 1846 when my ggg grandmother died they were living at 13 Tothill Street, Holborn. I am hoping that John (shoemaker) stayed local whilst his children were young (the eldest being born circa 1838).  Thanks, Sandra

I am looking for my ggg grandfather John BANKS in 1851. In 1841 he was in Portpool Lane with his wife Jane and two children William (3) and Mary (1). My gg grandfather Jospeh was born in Sept 1841 (Portpool Lane) and by 1846 they were living in Tothill Street, Holborn, Middlesex as that is the address given on the death certificate for Jane who died there November 1846. John was a shoemaker and hopefully stayed at that address to bring up his children (maybe taking another wife pretty soon). Has anyone access to a name index/or the census to check for me.please?  Some of the info above was kindly supplied by a rootschat member. TIA Sandra

Northumberland Lookup Requests / 1851 LOOK UP IN KILLINGWORTH
« on: Thursday 28 October 04 20:40 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for my gg grandfather Robert WALTON. He is listed in 1871 (in Heworth, Durham at this time) as being born in Killingworth abt 1846. I only have his fathers name Thomas which was on his marriage certificate to go by. I realise that miners moved around quite a bit but I am hoping that some kind person may have easy access to the Killingworth census to check if they were there for me. As I live 200+ miles from the area I would appreciate any pointers to help me find him.  TIA,  Sandra

Bryant. Thankyou very much for the information. I had no idea up until now that there were any siblings. I believe that John was from Ireland? I need to find him in 1851. I know he was still in Holborn (13 Tothill Street) in 1846 as that is when and where Jane died. Hopefully someone else has access to the 1851 census and will be kind enough to check for me.

Thanks again,

Sandra

My gg grandfather Joseph BANKS was born in Holborn 19/9/1841. His mother died in 1846 (age 29) and I am trying to find out if he and his father John and any possible siblings  were still living in the area in 1851. Also if they were in Holborn on census night 1841. Joseph appears in Northampton sometime before 1871 where he married my gg grandmother. Any help or pointers gratefully received. TIA Sandra

Joseph is in Northampton in 1871 where he married my gg grandmother, where has he been! Any info or pointers would be much appreciated. TIA Sandra.
