Hi polarbear

I haven't been able to access that yet - I just get a blank screen.   I have his Attestation Papers, but does the reference you gave me contain more than that?

Hi Sandra

Its probably the information that R C Harris gave but its not unknown for a few "fibs" along the way  :P

I wouldn't be surprised if he 'fibbed' a bit.   As I said, he was sent to Canada in disgrace and gave his sister as next of kin on his army Attestation Papers, not his mother.

Thanks for your help.

Hi lizdb

Probate index Entry

The Will of Daniel Love late of Chievely in the county of Berks Yeoman deceased who died 14 July 1870 at Chiveley was proved by oaths of Bernard Body Deane of Broadmoor Farm Wokingham in the county aforesaid Yeoman and John Henry George Love of Boot and Berry's Farm Bradfield in the county aforesaid  yeoman the nephews and Richard Wernham of Chiveley yeoman the executors

So Bernard Body Deane and John Henry George Love were Daniel Love's nephews.

Is there any record of Daniel Love's actual Will that I could access?

Hi JJ

I saw that George Love in Reading and wondered the same thing, but can't find any record of mine being a policeman before that.

Thankyou for finding that Sarah and Daniel were brother and sister, and presumably Mary Horton was their sister.  If John Henry George Love was a nephew of Daniel Love there must have been another brother or two, as he was also a nephew of David Love in the 1851 census that you found.

Hi JJ

Thanks for that.   I'm wondering if my 2x g grandmother Sarah Love was their sister ???   Maybe John Henry George Love was Henry's son ???

Hi Sandra

The 1903 date sounds possible.   Could the fact that he was said to be from Kent be an error ???

Hi Lizdb & JJ

Thanks for explaining the son/daughter in law being step children.

So John Henry George Love was David Love's nephew.   I wonder who his parents were ::)

Hi again JJ

That's the Deane family Barnard, Fanny and Elizabeth on the 1841 census.   Isn't it frustrating that the '41 census doesn't given relationships, as I have no idea who the Hortons were.   I have a mystery as to why the three siblings stayed together, but not with their parents.   Father George died in 1873, but I can't find a death for his wife Susan Love b1804.   I wonder if their father had a second wife and they didn't get on ???

Hi JJ & lizdb

Many thanks for your replies.

Daniel Love, Silchester sounds like a definite possible, JJ, especially as two of his executors were nephews - as found out by lizdb.   Do you think that John H G Love may have been in Sulhampstead (not Sathampstead) JJ as I have Deanes there ???

lizdb the information about Daniel Love's Will has sorted out some of the family connections for me, thankyou.   I too had come to the conclusion that Barnard Body Deane's wife Elizabeth J was his second wife, as he was on the 1861 census as widower, but I haven't found a record of his first marriage yet.
