Derbyshire / Re: Timothy Pegg and family?
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 23:11 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for the information Derek. I don't think Ann baptised 1750 is my Ann Pegg as she would have been 40 when she married and she then went on to have at least 3 children plus her death certificate and age of death given in a newspaper would have been 14 years out.

After numerous searches I believed until last night that there was only one Timothy Pegg around the right age to be in any way connected to Ann, however last night I found an apprentice record for a Richard... apprenticed to a Timothy Pegg who was a framesmith in Loughborough in 1782.  This obviously can't be the one you mention in Melbourne due to the Melbourne Timothy being too young. Trouble is I can't find anything at the moment on Timothy the framesmith. I cannot find any baptisms, marriages or a burials connected to him, there's nothing on the IGI, the Loughborough PR's or on the Non Conformist BMD site.

Derbyshire / Timothy Pegg and family?
« on: Monday 30 April 12 12:26 BST (UK)  »
My 4x G grandmother ANN PEGG married Peter Sykes on 24 Sep 1790 at Loughborough, Leicestershire. According to her death certficate she was born about 1764. I just can't find a baptism for her but my one clue is that one of her marriage witnesses was TIMOTHY PEGG. I believe there was only one TIMOTHY PEGG around at this time as that is the one born in Melbourne in 1770. He was born in Melbourne but married in Kegworth in 1800 before moving back to Melbourne (unless there were 2 Timothy Pegg's?). Even if he was living in Kegworth he made at least a 6 mile trip for Ann's marriage which makes me think he must have a close connection to my Ann. I've checked the online records (Baptist & Cof E) but it seems that Timothy didn't have a sister Ann unless other Pegg researchers know different?

There seems to be 2 Derbyshire PEGG  families in Loughborough in the 1700's - that of James who originated from Brailsford, then that of George & Dorothy- George came from Kirk Ireton. Ann doesn't seem to belong to either of them.

Any help finding a link between Ann and Timothy will be greatly appreciated.

Shropshire / Re: Wycherley of Myddle, Albrighton and Warwickshire
« on: Monday 28 November 11 22:28 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Allan,
I've taken note of the Moreton Corbett Wycherleys and agree it looks very promising but before I go much further with the Moreton Corbett family I need to check out the Wem Wycherleys further and check the Bishops Transcripts for Myddle as the years that would cover Thomas's birth (1670 - 1680) are missing from the Myddle PR's. Myddle is where Thomas's eldest 2 children were born.
Many thanks,
Judy

Warwickshire / WYCHERLEY of Compton Winyates and Shropshire
« on: Saturday 26 November 11 23:20 GMT (UK)  »

I'm researching the family of Thomas Wycherley who had children in Myddle and Albrighton from 1700 - 1705 and then was the steward to the Earl of Northampton at his Compton Winyates estate in Warwickshire from approximately 1724. This is what I have so far:

Thomas Wycherley married Mary Bradshaw in Shrewsbury in 1700, Thomas was a husbandman. They had these children:

Ignatius-  born 1700 Myddle, died 1720 Albrighton nr Shrewsbury

Violetta - born 1703 Myddle, married Richard Watkins in Compton Winyates (my 7x gr grandmother)

Richard- born 1705 in Albrighton, married in Compton Winyates and like his father was a servant to the Earl of Northampton.

Thomas then had 3 children by Alice who seems to be his second wife but I cannot find the marriage:

Thomas - born 1724 Compton Winyates

James - born 1726 Compton Winyates

Cassandra - 1728 Compton Winyates

Does anyone know anything of this family or perhaps know where Thomas was born circa 1675?

Cheshire / Re: ELLISON & BAKER of Middlewich brickwall
« on: Wednesday 19 October 11 12:30 BST (UK)  »
I've now checked the Frodsham and Middlewich images and think they are 2 different families because Frodsham was always the place of birth on the Ellison baptisms for Frodsham while it's various parts of Middlewich named on the Middlewich baptisms.
The logical answer is that John is the s/o Thomas and Mary of Middlewich particularly has they had daughters Martha and Mary but apart from Frodsham no other baptism has come to light so I'm still wary.
John Williams the witness to the John Ellison/ Maria Baker marriage and who married Mary Ellison was also a witness with a John Ellison to a William Ellison/Betty Warburton marriage at Middlewich in 1823.

Thanks Skylark,
I believe the Frodsham and Middlewich baptisms may be 2 different familes as John was baptised in 1800 at Frodsham while William was baptised in Middlewich in 1800. It would certainly make sense if they were the same family though as the male Christian names are ones that belong to John and Maria's children. I hadn't followed up with the witnesses so I'll try that now and I'll also check the Frodsham baptisms now the images are online.
Many thanks,
Judy

Gloucestershire / Re: EATLEACH MARTIN MARRIAGE RECORD
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 12:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ochsenkopff,
There's no trace of Edward or Elizabeth at Eastleach Martin before their marriage. Unfortunately the parish registers are missing for 1748- 1779 for Eastleach Turville so you need to check the Bishop Transcripts which are at Gloucester Archives. If you can't get there then I believe you can order photocopies for the years you want from them, you could always ask them for a quote.
The IGI has Edward Parker baptised 22 Aug 1756 s/o Joseph and Mary at Eastleach Turville(NB the IGI for Eastleach Turville is based on the BT's).
Barnsley, Gloucs is only approx 8 miles from Southrop/ the Eastleaches.

Cheshire / ELLISON & BAKER of Middlewich brickwall
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 11:41 BST (UK)  »
My major brickwall for years now has been my ELLISON and BAKER line from Middlewich. My 3x G Grandfather John ELLISON married Maria BAKER at Middlewich church in 1823 and they had 4 children baptised there before moving to Ightfield (near Whitchurch), Shropshire in the 1830's. On all the censuses John stated he was born c1803 in Middlewich (Sutton, Clive, or Newton depending on the census) and Maria was born c1802 in Middlewich.I've checked the LDS filmings of Middlewich (PR's and BT's), the IGI and the Cheshire Parish Register project but have found nothing for either of them. The Maria Baker who pops up in Chester on the IGI and Cheshire PR project isn't mine as she died as a baby, also the John Ellison born in Bowden isn't mine as many LDS members have him married to someone else. An Ellison 2nd cousin remembers his Dad saying there may be a Yorkshire link somewhere!
Any help placing John ELLISON or Maria BAKER will be greatly appreciated.
