Thank you for replying. I had checked the bmd's but posted in case someone had been researching the church or area and could possibly have more information such as where the church records are held.

William Edwards, born Llanbadarn near Aberystwyth, was curate in Parr Mount between 1886 - 1893. He married a  Mary S. in 1890.Having checked census records could she possibly be the daughter of William Flaherty vicar of Holy Trinity, Parr.Would be grateful if someone could let me know whether this was the only C of E in the area and where to access the church records.
By 1901 the family had moved to Norfolk.

The following appears in a booklet ' Hanes Ebeneser Trefdraeth' (history of the chapel)
written in 1945.Translated from Welsh.
J.R. Jones came here from Trelech as schoolteacher. He was an able man He was prominent with the cause, a daecon, teacher and leader of singing. He was considered an excellent musician and would often be called upon to adjudicate atat the local eisteddfodau. After being in Newport for many years he moved to Mynachlog Ddu and joined Antioch chapel. At retirment he returned to Newport wher he diedv on September 14 1912 aged 67.

I researched the local Roll of Honour many years ago and came across the following in the local paper:
Pte. Oliver Jones, King's Royal Rifles son of the late J.R. Jones former schoolmaster of Newport killed in action in August aged 23 , one of 3 brothers serving with the colours. This gallant hero left Newport with his parents when young. The family were wll known and highly respected. His brother Tom was until 1915 assistant master at Dinas afterwards entering college.
The names of the fallen are read out in Newport Church on Remembrance Sunday.
Do you have any info. on him?
