Australia / Re: Looking for Ann
« on: Wednesday 12 August 15 06:57 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rosemary. Thank you for getting in touch with me re Ann Healy. So far as I know Ann, Mary, Denis and Daniel Healy and their sisters Ann and Mary came to Australia. I am descended through Daniel.I have heard the story about them going to Queensland and working on the railways, but I an not sure about that. Daniel and Denis both worked for the Railways in Victoria as did my grandfather, Nicholas, son of Daniel, and Daniels other sons
George Healy was my father's cousin. Son of John . He would have been a great nephew of Ann. He did go to Brisbane and was fire chief there for many years. If you google "George Healy Brisbane" you will find information about him. Also in Trove (Brisbane papers)
Rosemary, you and I are both descendants of Nicholas Healy and Mary Hogan from County Clare, Ireland. That makes us cousins. Nice to "meet" you.
         Regards  Marg

Hello Hallmark, thank you for taking the time to answer me. Elizabeth Pollock's maiden name is "Caddon" on her death cert. She is on the Poor Law records in Ayrshire, Scotland, and her maiden name is McAdam. On the death cert. of her son William, my gggrandfather, she is "Caddon" I would love to find out more about this branch of my family. Her d.c. states she was born in Monaghan Ireland. The informant was her son Alexander. I realize this is a (very) long shot  and I thank you for taking an interest.

Thank you for that quick reply, Sinann. There is a "m" there. That does not mean a mistake wasn,t made by the person who put the notice in the paper (probably one of his daughters) or the newspaper itself. Are you able to tell me anything about the place?
 Thank you again.

I have found a News Paper death notice for my great grandfather, (died 1919) which states he was born in Mullmahone, County Tipperary. Can anyone tell me about this place? I am wondering if it might be a misspelling.

South Africa / Re: Muldoon
« on: Thursday 29 May 14 00:47 BST (UK)  »
Daniel Gough Muldoon was born at Sale Victoria, Australia, 1865. His parents were Daniel Muldoon and Julia Gough, both born Ireland and married at Tarraville, Victoria Australia, October 30 1858.
Children of this marriage were: Jane Mary 1859 - 1904. Bridget 1862- 1863, Michael 1865- 1866, Daniel Gough 1865 - 1921, John James 1867 - 1893. Jane Mary married, but I don't know if she had any children. John James is a bit of a mystery man. I can't find a birth or death cert for him.He was a witness at Daniel Gough's marriage in 1891. A small death notice in a paper has his death in Sydney in 1893, aged 25. At some stage in the late 1890's, Daniel Gough went to South Africa. We know he was in the Boer War. Hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please ask. If I can help I will be very happy to do so.
