What do the other three bits mean anyway? (Just so I know if I am actually asked later)

Cheers :)

I wondered why there were three boxes for quarter, lol.

The Common Room / GRO is confusing me...

I'm ordering some family certificates (at last!) and the GRO have sent me some forms to fill in. The thing is, to get reduced fee, I have to fill in the GRO refence section (to help them find it quicker). Some of the info I know, some of it confuses me as to what they want...

The section is:

Year, Quarter, District name/number, Volume, Page, Registration/Reg No, Entry Number, Date of Registration.

So, using Eliz/Theo's marriage, I would get:

Year: 1887
Quarter: 4
District name/no: Plympton St Mary, Plymouth, Devon, UK
Volume: 05 B
Page: 417
Registration/Reg no: ??
Entry number: How do I find that?
Date of registration: How does that differ from what they first asked?

And have I got it right so far?  :-\

Yes, and as I said, that's my great aunt's domain. I'm not treading on her toes. I'm doing the JONES and URWIN/BRADY lines. Then we compare notes and form a fuller family tree.

Why are you confused?

That's the one. Violet died in infancy and May died in her sister's arms in her teens. My great-grandmother was Lilie, who married Walter Jones.

It's interesting you should say that, I don't know much about John F, he's not my area of research (my great aunt is that side of the family). I'm sure she'd be interested to know :)

If hes a Royal Marine Light Infanteer the uniform would be Navy Blue with a red sash and the belt white with brasses.
 :)

Looks like you got it about right then :) Cheers.

Armed Forces / Can someone please tell me about this uniform?

The man is John F RICHARDS, who I know served in Gallipoli in 1916 when his daughter married. I believe he was RMLI? I would like to know about the uniform, such as what colour it would have been.

Thanks.
