England / Sapper 1861 John Jerred - lookup request
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 06:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi good people
John Jerred is/was my ggggrandfather.
I am led to believe that in about 1861 he was a Sapper (Royal Engineer) - he was from Devon.
I am wondering if anyone has any access to online records that would show some light on to any information pertaining to this man.
My thanks in advance.

Any chance anyone can take a look at these for me please and forward some details.
Background - all I know about this gentleman is he lived in Virginia, possibly married a Frances/Emma Muir - dates unknown but they had a child John Archibald Robert Henderson in about 1859 Virginia. John emigrated to Australia in about 1873. They are a total mystery - both of them until 1880, a seamans certificate for John, and later John's death certificate stating POB Virginia USA.

1. Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014 Richard Augustus Henderson (Virginia USA) - maybe a stretch but too much of a coincidence - given the immediate name connection.
2. Virginia, U.S., Deaths and Burials Index, 1853-1917 - Richard Henderson - Chesterfield, Virginia.
3. Virginia, U.S., Deaths and Burials Index, 1853-1917 - Richard Henderson 1894

I have not looked at census documents yet.
Would appreciate any help
Cheers
