Warwickshire / Lost in Birmingham - help!!!!!!!
« on: Tuesday 15 January 08 09:16 GMT (UK)  »
I've found a rellie married in Birmingham in 1946 but don't know how to find which part of Birmingham they might have settled to have children.  With the surname of Cooper, I need an area to search to find children I think.

Can anyone help me please?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Leeds knowledge needed??
« on: Tuesday 08 January 08 12:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have a rellie which according to the 1841 census was born in Ireland, but it doesn't say where!  Does anyone know how I can find out.  It also shows that his parents were also born in Ireland, but his siblings were born Leeds.  Is there some ledger or local information which might show them and where they came from?

Thanks for trying to help me.

I've got some very old postcards of Hereford with similar markings, and they date back to about 1920

Beard's have a coach company in the Forest of Dean - Cinderford to be precise.
Nice family and great sense of humour.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't really thought about searching another branch of the family to find the info I need.  I can't be sure what religion they were, but think they were unlikely to be catholic.

I'll try your suggestion, thanks again.

Cork / Casey help needed

I'm not sure if anyone can help me, but I'm stuck so here goes.
My mother-in-law is a brilliant old lady and wants to know more about her roots.  Her ggrandfather was called John Casey (1835) and was born in Ireland - yes, I do know Ireland is a big place, though she believes he came from somewhere near Cork.  Anyhow, this John Casey (mother called Catherine and father called James) was born in or around Cork she thinks, though the other siblings were born and raised in Leeds.  I think they went to Leeds around 1836 - 1842.

The question is where and what connection?  I've got no idea on how to find out, but would dearly love to be able to not just tell her, but to take her to Ireland and show her.  As she is now over 80 and not a well old lady then I can't hang around until I learn how to find out the information.  Can anyone help me?

Thanks for reading this.
