Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A tidy Up please

Mum recently gave me this photo of my Grandad and his work colleagues, at Wolverton Railway works.

We're not sure when or why it was taken but Grandad was born 1895 and is in the centre of the picture, with the dark waistcoat. Any suggestions for a date (we think 1920's or 30's).

It just needs a little bit of tlc and I would be really grateful.

Census and Resource Discussion / 1911 census advice please

Ok, like everyone I have eagerly awaited this as I hoped it would help me. Not yet, it seems

so I am looking for some pointers on how best to search before I make myself bankrupt with the cost

The info I have is as follows

1901 Census - Eynseford, Kent
Mary Jane Hill, Head, b 1843 Canada
Sarah Ann Adams, daughter, b 1874 Lancashire
William Robert Adams, grandson, b 1898 Wandsworth

Along with Sarah's sister Florence Hill & brothers William Hill & James Hill.

Sarah then moved about as she had her children

Pretoria May Hill, b 02/07/1901, 3 Best Cottages, Crockenhill, Kent
Annie Elizabeth Pearce Adams, b 09/12/1903, 3 Tylers Hill, Crockenhill, Kent
Frederick Charles Donald Adams, b 26/01/1906, 7 Alexander terrace, Swanley, Kent

There is then a gap until another 2 daughters

Maude Evans Adams, b 12/02/1912, 37 West Hill, Dartford
Emily Adams, b c1913 (not found her birth yet) d 1915 Dartford workhouse.

In 1914/1915 Sarah & some of the children are in the dartford workhouse, where Sarah dies, so I am assuming they stayed around the Kent area.

I have looked at Alexander Terrace and West Hill but can't seem to find any of them as either Adams or Hill (Sarah used whichever name she felt like).

So, can anybody give me some advice on how to try and find this family in 1911. Are these addresses all in the same area of Kent so I could just put one place in, or am I destined to spend a furtune searching?

England / Where to start looking for a death???

I know when my Grandfather was born, when he married and his children were born but I don't know when he died.

My dad (his youngest was born in 1925 and died in 1974) and the family moved from manchester to buckinghamshire about 1932.

He was not alive when I was born in 1965 so does it mean I need to trawl through all years' from 1932 to 1964 for bucks to try to find him?

I have tried looking on freeBMD but it just returns no entries, anyone any other suggestions where and how to look for him

Technical Help / Ma730Pt - can I delete this - COMPLETED

Hi again

In Event Viewer, under the system tab I get the above coming up as an error. I have googled and it appears tp be something to do with Motorola (I did have a Motorola phone and installed their Mobile Action PC Suite).

I have deleted the Mobile Action stuff but when I search the PC for Ma730Pt the following files are found

MA730PT.VXD in C:\WINDOWS\system32
ma730pt.sys in c:|WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Is it OK to just delete these two files. If not, what's the best way to get rid of thema nd this error

Technical Help / Plusnet Broadband

Has anyone in the UK any experience of the above broadband provider, please. I am looking for a fairly basic, cheap one for my Mum(she's just turned 80 and wants to go on the internet - Lord help us

) and I do not particularly want to tie her in to a 12 month contract.

Plusnet have an upto 8Mb service that can be on a monthly contract (thus making it easier to cancel if she stops using it) for £9.99.

Does anyone know how good or reliable their service is, or can recommend another provider. She currently has a BT phone line and doesn't want to change or incorporate that with the broadband.

All advice greatly appreciated as I know you lot will give me honest answers.

Technical Help / MS Office

I have MS Office 2003 installed on my PC but cannot find the original disk (probably lost it or threw it away when I was moving

i've looked high & low but it is hiding itself)

Is it possible to recreate the disk in case I ever need to reinstall it. I still have the uninstall info on the PC and have used Belarc Advisor to obtain the licence key.

I'm guessing it's not as easy as I am hoping but would appreciate all help & advice.

Technical Help / IE7 Crashing

Don't say change to something else because I can't

At work I have Windows XP and IE7. If I have more than one IE window (not tab) open and close one down with the X IE always crashes and I have to close the other IE windows down.

This does not happen on my home PC, which also has Win XP and IE7

I have made sure all windows, etc updates are up to date but don't know what else to try.

Any suggestions

Technical Help / PC Start Up query

Hi Guys

Whenever I turn my PC on, my internet connection box always comes up as per picture below.

I don't have my broadband connect automatically as I do sometimes use my PC without being online

Does anyone know how I can stop this popping up every time. I know I managed to stop this happening once before but can't remember how. I have checked my startup and there doesn't seem to be anything there Can anyone help??
