Mary PATE/PEAT was tried as Mary WEIR at Northumberland, England. It was thought that WEIR was her married name:
MIDSUMMER SESSIONS 13 JULY 1792
Mary Weir came from the Parish of Hexham in the said County single woman,
and there she pleaded guilty to counts of Larceny on the 17 July thirty
third year of the Reign of the Sovereign Lord, George the Third, King his
Crown and Dignity. Mary Weir of the Parish of Hexham aforesaid was sentenced
to be transported to his Majesties Settlements on the Eastern Coast of New
South Wales for the term of seven years or to any other of his Majesties
Dominions beyond the seas for that time for the theft of one petticoat from
Mary Leighton.[/i]
