Dublin / Barkan/Copeland - update
« on: Thursday 22 April 10 18:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am reseraching the following Barkan family. This branch were known by the surname Barkan, but their cousins were Copelands. They all lived in the Manchester/Salford area.
Jacob Nathan Barkan (Yankel Nossen) born about 1890 - I think in Riga.

Brothers: David, Benjamin and Jud. Benjamin was the youngest of the boys
Sisters: Ethel, Tilly and Rose
Ethel married Abie Luft
Tilly married her cousin Lionel Copeland
Rose married Abie Galpern from Scotland

Jacob, the eldest, came to Manchester as a very young child.  The
others were born in Manchester/Salford area.

Solomon and Fanny Copeland lived in Holyhead with their 4 sons: Lionel (born 1887) Israel Copeland (b. 1895), Jacob Copeland (b 1897) and Eli Copeland (b 1902). The last 3 were born in Dublin Ireland.

Thanks  :)

Michelle

Brothers: David, Benjamin and Jud. Benjamin was the youngest of the boys
Sisters: Ethel, Tilly and Rose
Ethel married Abie Luft
Tilly married her cousin Lionel Copeland
Rose married Abie Galpern from Scotland

Jacob, the eldest, came to Manchester as a very young child.  The
others were born in Manchester/Salford area.

The 3 youngest children were born in Dublin.

For the record, I also found the marriage of George Delamontagne and Jeanne Lhoest in Dec 1886, Paris 16, listing and 'legitimising' all their children.

You wish English certs were as good!

Tati

You are great!!! Thank you so much for all of this. how did you find it all. I will find a French speaker to translate this for me, but I can identify the names. One of Adelaides's descendants is named Leontine and never knew where this name came from!

Many thanks for all this help.

Now I am off to celebrate Israel's Independance.

Thanks again.

You're lucky - Paris Archives are now online.

They were married on 23 August 1894 - here's a link to the register - just scroll forwards to image 7
