Success at last!   The marr cert for Francis & Harriett arrived today & yes it had the correct father on it for Francis & also for Harriett.     So now I have to try & find who Francis Reese Roberts b 1923 married.   I've written to the GR person twice but they haven't replied & in fact have now removed their name from Francis Reese Roberts on GR.   
On the 2002 electoral roll Francis R Roberts was living at the same address as his parents had lived at in 1939 with someone called Elsie, presumably his wife???   He died the next year in 2003.   If I could just find his wife's maiden name I may be able to find a child or children of his still living.
Anyway I'm very happy to have found what I have so far & it was thanks to all you people who replied that I've got this far.

Wrote a few days ago to the person on GR with Francis Reese Roberts on their tree but unfortunately no reply as yet.

Got in touch with Cheshire Records Office & their reply said "not available on line as it's fairly recent therefore still covered by data protection legislation.  It was a civil marriage not a church wedding & so they don't hold any relevant records."   

So I'm not sure if the records for a civil marriage give the Father's name,    Does anyone know please??

Thanks to both of you for your replies.   I'll probably have to put a message out for someone to be kind enough to go & look for me as I shan't be in the UK again until next spring.

Roger, no wonder I couldn't find Harriett on Anc!   Anyway I did find her so that's the main thing!   I'm more & more sure she's the correct one but just have to verify it.

Thanks again Annette.    My tree is on GR but I hadn't added Harriett or Francis Reese as I hadn't verified they were the correct people, but I have added them now & can delete them if necessary.  So have written to the person with Francis R b 1923 in Birkenhead & just keep my fingers crossed now that they reply.   The person with Francis R 1887 is my cousin & I know she knows no more than me. I've looked at several trees on Anc too that have him on but they have no wife etc for him either, apart from one who has Harriett married to a Thomas Reese!
Thanks also to Roger for replying & now I know Harriett came from Guilsfield too I'm even more excited & the attraction is much greater!!!   However I couldn't find her on the 1911 census in Liscard, not on Anc anyway.
I'm awaiting a reply now from GR.
