Renfrewshire / James BROWN
« on: Sunday 17 February 08 20:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

James was born in 1799 in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

He was a veteran of the Napolionic War and  fought in the Battle of Waterloo.

In 1819 he married a lass named Marion Watt from Stewarton. They had at least 5 children, then sailed to New Zealand in 1848.

Does anyone have any information about him?  Or his family?

Cheers,

:)

Hi there,

John Watt snr lived in Muirhead, Stewarton, Ayrshire. He had at least 2 children John & Robert.  John snr died in 1810.

Robert compiled the monumental bibliography Bibliotheca Britannica and was President of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He was born in May 1774 and died on 12 March 1819 and is buried in Glasgow High Church Burial Ground.

John jnr married his neighbour's daughter Janet Burns on 16 August 1794 and had at least one child named Marion Watt.  She was born on 17 May 1795 in Stewarton, married in 1819 and sailed to New Zealand and died here on 29 May 1890.

If anyone can tell me about the Watt family in Stewarton or the Burns I'd be most grateful!

:)

Hi there,

These two were married in Peterculter, Aberdeen, Scotland on 1 November 1829.

Their daughter Mary Farquharson was married in Banchory Devenick, Kincardine,  on 19 December 1865 to William Jamieson.  Penny was listed as deceased at that time.  I have also seen Penny as Penelope on the familysearch site.  Can anyone add any details for these folk?

Cheers,

 ;D

Kincardineshire / William JAMIESON and Jane SUTHERLAND
« on: Sunday 17 February 08 19:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I am looking for any information on William Jamieson born in 1810 in Upperton, Findon, Kincardine.  He died in 30 December 1889 and is buried in Portlethen Parish Church Graveyard.  A very kind man sent me a picture of his grave stone which also acknowledges William's wife Jane Sutherland.  She was born in 1816 and died on 1 January 1883.

I have a  copy of a 1835 census that has the couple with 3 children:

Cathrine, Elizabeth & Jane 4, 3, and 6mths.  I know they must have had a son at some point call William as it is from this line that I'm descended.

There was also an Ann Sutherland living with them - could be Jane's sister. She was employed as a domestic servant.

Does anyone else have any information about them?  I'd love to know their parents and siblings.  Actually I'd love to know pretty much anything about them

 ;)
