I have a possible bigamous marriage resulting in a child in the Norfolk area about 100 years ago. Would there be any record of this marriage if it took place, and where would I be able to find any details of it please. Have not come across this before!

Kent / England and Wales National Probate Calendar
« on: Friday 28 June 19 16:58 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the father of an ancestor who was born out of wedlock. I have his birth certificate, and although his father's name is not on there, which I was expecting, he was given his Father's surname at birth along with his mother's. This has come about following a DNA test I took, and this person is shown as a second cousin, which would suggest that he was related to my grandmother-she had six brothers. Is there any way of finding out more information from the England and Wales National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administration) 1855-1995 as the ancestor who was born out of wedlock did leave a will and it did have his Father's surname on it, but not his Christian name. There is a number on the will, which is 8781101723G. He was born in Wandsworth, but died in Kent. Regards.

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Westley Waterless
« on: Tuesday 07 May 19 14:50 BST (UK)  »
A while back I asked for help with finding Henry Rolison b 1850 and Richard Rolison b.1848 brothers born in Westley Waterless. Henry was found in 1881 as a  boarder, but no sign of Richard. However I have come across an old note (not very well recorded!) which says Richard married an Elizabeth Wright, and underneath I have written Benjamin. Must have been having a bad day as I have not recorded which year they married or indeed if Benjamin was a son born to them. Help please if possible. Rolison has been spelt loads of different ways which always makes it tricky to locate the family. Thanks.

Essex Lookup Requests / James Law 1799
« on: Monday 29 April 19 16:08 BST (UK)  »
I have a James Law b approx. 1799 who married Emma Sell in 1846, and they had at least 7 children starting with my ancestor Nathan Law in 1848. However James was a lot older than Emma who was not born until 1824, so the children shown on the 1851 census as sons could not all have been hers as they were only seven years and ten years younger than her. They are shown as sons, but I guess they must be James's sons from a previous marriage. They are Aaron Law b.1831 and Abraham b.1834. I have not been able to find a previous marriage for him that fits so would appreciate some help please.

Surrey Lookup Requests / Ivy Ellen Elliott b.1913 Guildford
« on: Sunday 08 July 18 18:27 BST (UK)  »
I have been unable to find any trace of Ivy. I thought I was on the right track when I found a marriage to a Frederick Hookway in 1931, and a death in 1963, but other records that came up show that Ivy's mother was Mary Ann, whereas mine was Elizabeth.
