Electoral rolls for George Peabody COTTON - any later than 1937 may be the son who was born in 1916 and given the same name as his father, although they are mostly enrolled using the designations jnr and snr

1913
George Peabody COTTON, engineer, 90 Flinders St, Surry Hills
1930, 1934, 1937
George Peabody COTTON (occ fitter) and Lilian Victoria COTTON at 23 Norton St, Randwick
1943
Both George senior and junior (both occupation: fitter), and Lilian hd, all at same Norton St address also with Joyce COTTON, sales assistant
(No relationships shown on electoral rolls)
1949
George senior, Lilian and Joyce at Norton St
George junior at 125 rainbow St Randwick
1954
George (not listed as senior) and Lilian at 19 Norton St, Randwick
1954 also
George Peabody COTTON, fitter and Mollie Ellen COTTON at 14 Waratah St, Kirrawee

You can see 23 Norton St Randwick on Googlemap - now worth $$$$$$$$$

Just trying to narrow down possible emigration dates.

Are his children all born in Australia and, if so, what is the earliest, please.  I note that he married in NSW 1859, giving his marital status as 'widower' so do you have any information re a previous wife?

Seems to me that the convict transportation already mentioned may be him.

Probably no help but Trove has him on a transfer to Boulder in October 1943.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/75937603
From Perth Mirror, 30 October 1943
Boxer For Boulder
PC Bert Truslove, of Vic. Park, former crack middleweight boxer, left last night for Boulder on transfer.
He should be welcome in sporting circles on the Goldfields as he is a clever boxer and skipping artist.

Funeral Notices for William Thomas WEBB (father of Florence's husband)

I thought I'd mention the names of his family in case there should be some familiar names to the family of Joseph William) but I don't think they're any help!

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/238798783?searchTerm=william%20webb
From newspaper Daily Telegraph, June 3 1914
WEBB.— The Friends of Mrs. WILLIAM THOMAS WEBB are kindly invited to attend the Funeral of
her beloved husband; to leave the residence, ''Marathon," Waverley St., Waverley, THIS DAY' (WEDNESDAY), at 2.15 p.m., for Waverley Cemetery.
There are other funeral notices from:
Frances Webb, George and Albert Webb - WTW was their son and brother
Mr and Mrs J Woodham - WTW was their friend
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas STEEL, Sen., and GERTIE and GLADYS Steel  - WTW was their son-in-law and brother-in-law
Mr. Thomas STEEL, Jun., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Steel, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Steel, Mr and Mrs Percy
CUNNEEN, and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. HAMMOND - WTW was their brother and brother-in-law.
Also a notice from Masonic Lodge, Ivanhoe

None of this is any help as Steel was Frances' maiden name and all these names seem to be from the Steel family.
There is also a Death Notice in the same edition of that newspaper which also doesn't help.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/238798713
WEBB.— June 1st, 1914, at a Private Hospital. Sydney, William Thomas, dearly loved husband of Ruby Webb, of "Marathon," Waverley St., Waverley, aged 31 years.

There's another account of the court proceedings from the The Young Chronicle,  Sat 6 Mar 1909
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/233867374
which is almost identical to the one Sue found but definitely shows the surname of the godfather as Humes - could still be a misprint!
