Essex Lookup Requests / George Albert Smith/Edith Ellen Turp
« on: Tuesday 24 February 09 19:53 GMT (UK)  »
Please could anyone tell me if there is a way, other than ordering a marriage certificate, to find out the names of the parents of the George Smith who married Edith Ellen Turp in 1909? In the 1911 census they were living at 57 Arbor Lane, Great Baddow, Chelmsford. Because my search is for Smiths I have ordered a few certificates which turn out to be the wrong ones. I am happy to order a certificate but wonder if there is any way of ensuring I have the correct George first. many thanks, Kate.

From the 1911 census I discovered that my great uncle George Albert Goodwin Smith may have been married to Edith Ellen (Nelly) Turp. Can anyone tell me anything about Edith Turp born 1890 in Wickham, Essex? Thanks,  :D

Suffolk Lookup Requests / 1881 Census - James GOODING/GOODWIN or William SMITH
« on: Sunday 28 September 08 10:29 BST (UK)  »
I have managed to find out lots about my great grandfather even though he changed his name to William Smith from James Gooding/Goodwin but I have a gap in 1881. James/William always gave his birth place as Tunstall, Suffolk and his birth date as 1842/4 whichever name he was using. I have been told he changed his name after jumping ship. He is not the James Goodwin on a fishing ship who gives his birth place as Blything but apart from that I have hit a brick wall. Can anyone PLEASE help me? Many thanks, Kate

If anyone is going to be looking at the archives for Blaxhall PLEASE could you look up the documents for Mary Goodwin FC168/G6/26 1825? It seems Mary was accused of 'delivering herself of a female child which she is accused of murdering' and also FC 168/G9/18 23 December 1817 which contains orders concerning a bastard child of Elizabeth Burrows who was claiming that James Goowin of Snape was the father.

For future reference is there any way of reading these documents online?

Many, many thanks, Kate

Hi, can anyone tell me if it is possible to see a list of inmates of Melton (Woodbridge?) Suffolk lunatic asylum for 1901? I am looking for information regarding Katherine or Catherine Howlett nee Frost born 1827 in Grundinsburgh, Suffolk, who may have died there.

Many thanks, Kate

Many thanks, Kate.
