The Common Room / "Uterine brother"
« on: Saturday 30 April 16 01:09 BST (UK)  »
I came across this expression in the Walloon Church records. I understand what it means, but have never come across such an expression before.
Has anyone seen it, or similar?

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Place name in Walloon records
« on: Friday 29 April 16 23:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello again Rootschatters,
I have a birthplace that I cannot find at all in a record from the Walloon Church Canterbury.
Adrian Van Osse was born in a place that looks like Anners. It is the same in other records for him, but I cannot find this place on any map.
And if anyone can help with his wife's birthplace, that would be handy too.

Thanking you in advance.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Spitalfields French baptism 1659
« on: Thursday 21 April 16 08:37 BST (UK)  »
Hello again Rootschatters,
I have a baptism from 1659 in Spitalfields, where I can't make out the name of the child baptised. What it has been transcribed as doesn't look like the original entry to me.
Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks in advance.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1661 baptism French translation please
« on: Monday 11 April 16 09:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello again Rootschatters,
I have found a baptism from 1661 in the records for the Walloon Church Canterbury. I would really appreciate if someone could translate it for me. The surname in particular is what I am interested in.
Also, this entry is the only one on the page that does not have a date (those on the same day have a ditto); am I right to assume it is the same date as the preceding one?

Thanks in advance.

Having mastered the snipping tool (thanks to all of those on my thread asking how to crop), I have an entry from the Walloon Church in Canterbury from 1683.
I think it is the right one, but can't quite make out the groom's surname, and once again my French is poor.
Thanks in advance.

Quick question: are Jacob and Jacques the same name in French or different? Please excuse my ignorance on this.

Australia / SA birth details
« on: Friday 08 April 16 23:59 BST (UK)  »
Good morning Rootschatters,
Are there any early risers able to give me the birth details of Marjorie Oxlade born 1909 please? I only have the early CD, and for some reason don't have this data, an oversight on my behalf.

Thanking you in advance.

Kent Lookup Requests / St Mary Bredin Canterbury lookup
« on: Thursday 07 April 16 12:15 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters,
Does anyone have access to the PR's for St Mary Bredin, Canterbury?
Abraham Sneller married Marie De Roo 8 Feb 1658, and I was wondering if there was any other information.

Thanking you in advance.

Technical Help / Cropping an image
« on: Monday 04 April 16 09:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello technical Rootschatters,
I have to admit rather shamefully I don't know how to crop an image, or take a section of an image to post on Rootschat for example. I have tried several times in different ways, but have to admit this baffles me.
