London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1861 census look-up please
« on: Wednesday 02 April 08 16:16 BST (UK)  »
I have posted this request before on other look-up sites but without luck - so maybe the schedule/piece they were on no longer exists but I thought it worth another try:

Looking for Alfred Wrecks WRIGHT (b1843) - he was a (stone)mason by trade and single at that time.  I can't find his father either - his name was George Wrecks WRIGHT (born c1800) - so maybe they are together?  GWW was also a stonemason.  I would expect to find them in St Lukes, Cripplegate but they could be anywhere!

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: wormwood scrub records 1901
« on: Wednesday 02 April 08 12:29 BST (UK)  »
just noticed your posting - my ancestor is also in Wormwood Scrubs on the 1901 census - after writing to the Prison Service I too was told the records no longer exist.  However the family history society I belong to suggested trying the Quarter Sessions at the LMA - i haven't actually got round to this yet but thought it might help you.

« on: Wednesday 02 April 08 10:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm researching the folllowing names in Essex:

Willis - lived Great & Little Leighs from around 1800 onwards; Great Waltham (circa 1910-1930), Margaretting (1881-onwards) and ran the White Hart PH

Wright - West Ham, Stratford, Romford.

Cook - Rochford.

Rawles - lived Bethnal Green in the 1880s - particularly interested in Thomas Henry Rawles who married Elizabeth Wright in 1884.  Elizabeth died in 1917 and his buried with her parents - why?  They had a son also called Thomas who was born 1895.  Haven't found any other children yet.

Essex / Re: James Garner Wright - where is he buried?

Karen,

I'm new to Rootschat was just surfing the Essex board when I noticed your post.

I am researching my Wright ancestors and although quite distant to my line I am interested in Joseph Wright who married Annie Margretta Garner in 1891.  Their son was named Joseph Garner Wright.  Anyway while I was researching this family I came across a marriage of a James Garner Wright to Alice McJannett in 1889.  Do you know if there is any connection to my Wrights?  Many thanks Alison

Thanks Milly.  Actually I have that certificate.  Alfred Wrecks Wright is the father of the Alfred born in 1867 - the enty you mention is Alfred senior's second marriage.  Thanks for trying to help, i should have been clearer.  Best wishes Alison

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Robert Nathaniel WRIGHT
« on: Tuesday 01 April 08 20:22 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor, Robert Nathaniel Wright was born in London in 1880.  He joined the Royal Navy but deserted his ship whilst it was stationed in Nova Scotia in 1903.

I have searched the Canadian 1911 census but can't seem to find him.  Could he have crossed the border into the US?  Are there any on-line records that are easily searched for Canada/United States?
