Hi Paston

I am sorry but i am unable to help with Lizzie's father, it looks like Lizzie's parents married between 1871 and 1881 census and that Lizzie's father had died before the 1881 census was taken. There are no marriages or deaths on the Jersey Heritage website as far as i know.

The Jersey Heritage Trust website.
Once you have clicked on the link
Click on Archives
Click on Name
Enter Surname and click Go
scroll down the page until you find who you are looking for, click on the name
For Lilian M E Denton it tells you there is a baptism for her, make a note of the ref number G/C/03/A2/21. Click on the underlined ref number.
Scroll down the page until you find the Ref G/C/03/A2/21 click on it, you will then see underlined Please click here to see a transcription of register etc. Once you have clicked on this you will get the transcription page which will explain how to search.
This page does take a little while to down load.

Hope that helps
Sal

Added - forgot to say you don't  have to register on JHT website

Hi Annie

Oldham Local Studies and Archives have got  an ongoing display about the Glen Mill Prisoner of War Camp to mark the 60th anniversary of it's closure.

There is a small amount of info on their website.
http://www.oldham.gov.uk/community/local_studies.htm

They are also asking if anyone has any info about the Glen Mill camp and its inmates to get in touch with them.

Family History Beginners Board / Re: oldham workhouse 1901
« on: Thursday 14 August 08 20:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi Sammybill

These are the  only records i could find for Amelia Fielding.

The Creed Register

Date - 9 Dec 1901
Name - Amelia Fielding
Date of Birth - 1823
By whose Admittance - Wes Taylor
Religious Creed - Wesleyan
Date of Admission - 6 Dec 1901
Date of Discharge - 6 Jan 1902 Death

Relatives Register

Date - 6 Dec 1901
Name of Pauper - Amelia Fielding
Parish from which admitted - Chadderton
What Relation - Son
Name - Samuel
Address - 83 Jemmie Lane Busk

The records are very hit and miss for the workhouse, those that have been filmed are hard to read in places.

The 1901 census was taken at the end of March 1901, so it looks like Amelia had been in the work house previously, I checked the records for an earlier date but couldn't find any thing.

Hope this helps
Sal

Hi Sammy

Oldham Local Studies and Archives have some of the records for Oldham Union Workhouse.
They have the addmission and discharge registers, Creed registers and the relatives registers on film, they are hard to read in some parts as the writing has faded.

My grandfather was in Oldham workhouse at the time of the 1901 census, he was admitted in 1900 and discharged 1906, i have been able to get copies from the addmission, dischage and creed registers, but for the time he was in the workhouse there were no relatives register.

Hope this helps
Sal
