I have located John Hartley and Wife Martha,on the 1841/1851 census.
John was a grocer and tea dealer according to 1851 census,at 38 Woolshops Halifax.
I believe John Hartley died in 1869,and Martha in 1874,but I have so far been unable to locate them on the 1861 census.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Kind regards Brian H. ;)

Having looked at the Ancestry marriage record for Stansfield Hartley - Annie Peel,I have a few questions.
The marriage record states Stansfield Hartley's fathers name as Edward Samuel Hartley -occupation inn Keeper.
I believe Edward Samuel Hartley b Halifax 1825 died in 1863 in Halifax.
Was it normal practise not to list a parent as - deceased ?,or have I made an error ?.
The 1871 census shows Stansfield Hartley with his widowed mother Mary, and the family, and oddly a new addition - Walter Hartley aged 4 ?.
Any guidance would be very much welcome.
Kind regards Brian H. ;)

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Reverend David Hartley 1674-1719 (Descendants)
« on: Saturday 31 December 11 10:53 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently noticed a foot note on the Hartley family site- Hartleyfamily.org.UK,which suggest that David Hartley b 1772 Ovenden, and family could be possible descendants of the above.
I have always hit a brick wall with David Hartley's origins, which has stopped me progressing any further - back in time, although I do think his father was also called David, and born in 1754.
I just wonder why the rev David Hartley's family tree has not previously been, fully established?
David Hartley Born 1772 Ovenden- died 1851 Rastrick,i and is my 4 x great grandfather.
Any guidance would be of real interest.
Kind regards Brian H. ;)

Yorkshire (West Riding) / James Spencer Hartley b 1881 - Halifax
« on: Saturday 17 September 11 17:07 BST (UK)  »
I am aware of James Spencer Hartley's family,he is last mentioned on the 1901 census  -occupation Bank clerk.
There is a marriage listed in Halifax in 1908,with potential spouses -either Susannah Wainwright or Harriet Watson.
This is a distant relative of mine  - third cousin twice removed,I was hoping to locate him with his spouse on the 1911, but haven't found him,or a potential death record
A fresh pair of eyes and some guidance would be much appreciated
Kind regards Brian H. ;)
