Gloucestershire / Louisa Wathen
« on: Thursday 07 October 04 20:37 BST (UK)  »
I need help with Louisa Wathen. She was born in Bristol around 1847. Louisa was married in Bristol in 1867 to John Carl Albert Voigt, a cabinet maker born in Germany. On the marriage cert the father of Louisa is named as John Wathen, grocers asst. however the only birth cert I have managed to find for the relevant dates gives the father as Henry Wathen, labourer.
A family bible which was lost during a house move in the 1970's mentioned a relationship of some sort between Louisa and Sir Charles Wathen ,who was Mayor of Bristol 6 times, however Sir Charles did not have any chidren, only 3 adopted daughters. Louisa moved to Manchester with her family and died soon after her youngest daughter was born in 1889. any help much appreciated.

Cavan / McVeety
« on: Thursday 07 October 04 18:46 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a George McVeety born between 1819 and 1824 in Ireland.Cavan is a possibility. His father was named as William McVeety, occ Joiner on his marriage certificate in Manchester in 1840. George's wife was Margaret Balam, father Humphrey Balam but I am unsure whether she came from Ireland. It is possible that a sibling of George went to Pensylvannia USA because George's grand- daughter went to stay with a relative in the USA after her parents died but she had returned to Manchester by 1899. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Completed Census Requests / William Bowden Stockport 1851/1861

I would very much appreciate a look up for William. I have located him on the 1871-1901 censuses where his place of birth is given as Stockport. He was aged 25 in 1871 and 55 in 1901 so I have assumed his was born in 1845/46 but the two birth certificates I purchased are not correct, one gives the fathers name as Samuel and one as John, yet according to William's marriage certificate his father's name is Ralph! I am hoping to find him on an earlier census living with his family. I have located a Ralph Boden married to Ann Roberts in 1841 and hope to confirm they were William's parents despite the difference in spelling. Hope someone will be able to help ???
