« on: Tuesday 10 January 17 17:48 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the parents of Edward Winterton of Empingham, Rutland, England.

He was born about 1826 and in 1848 he married Mary Knight and they four children that I know of.  He died in 1909.

What I'd like to know is who are his parents please?

Thanks.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / William Pickles
« on: Monday 09 January 17 15:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out more about my 4x great grandfather William Pickles.

All I know so far is that he was born c1790 in Haworth, West Riding of Yorkshire (as it was then) and that his wife was Sarah (formerly Naylor, born c1790).

They had several children between c1819 and c1840.

I have him on the 1851 and 1861 census and his address is given as Ginnel, Haworth ???

I know what a ginnel is but this address makes no sense ???

Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

Canada / 1921 Canada census
« on: Thursday 05 January 17 14:12 GMT (UK)  »
I have found two of my Pickles ancestors in Canada.

The transcriptions don't seem to make any sense at all.  They have been transcribed as Nealy and Fish Pickles!  The surname is correct but I'm baffled by the first names which came from ancestry.

What on earth could these names really be?

Not sure if I can post the census here so I'll wait to see if I get any replies.

Thanks.

Leicestershire / Stapleford, Leicestershire parish records

I am trying to find the birth of Joseph Hickman who was my 6x great grandfather.

All I know for sure is that he married Sarah Clark (born 1749, Kinoulton, Notts) on 7 December 1770 and they had the following children;

Sophia Eleanor (1777)
Thomas Welsh (1775, my 5x great grandfather)
Joseph (1778-1845)
John (1780)
William (1783)
Martha (1787)
Ann (1788-1809)

All the children were christened in Stapleford and I assume Joseph was born in the same area either in the 1740's or 1750's.

Thanks.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Looking for burial place
« on: Tuesday 15 November 16 12:46 GMT (UK)  »
On Sunday I received a PDF copy of my 2x great grandfather's death certificate from the GRO.

John Thomas Boulton died on 25 April 1953 at Victoria Hospital, Keighley.

At the time of his death he was living at 9 Gott Street, Crossroads, Keighley (which is not far from Haworth).

I am trying to figure out where he might have been buried.

It could either be St James' at Crossroads although my dad doesn't think there's a burial ground there.

If not there it could be Pennistone cemetery, Haworth or the churchyard at St Michael and All Angels, Haworth or even Utley cemetery, Keighley.

I cannot find any relevant online records to help me.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks.

London and Middlesex / Death registration query
« on: Friday 11 November 16 14:24 GMT (UK)  »
I want to order the death certificate of my 3x great grandfather John Boulton but I'm not sure if this is the correct one.  As I don't know London and its registration districts can anyone help?

John Hickman was buried on 28 May 1922 aged 77 at St Oswald's, Guiseley.  My Boulton clan came from Guiseley.  His full name was John Hickman Boulton but this is not recorded in the entry.

At the time of the death he was living at 183 Maxey Road, Plumstead.  If it is him I have no idea why he would have been in Plumstead at the time of his death.

This is the reference I found.  I was hoping to order the PDF from the GRO while they are still doing their trial;

BOULTON, JOHN      77
GRO Reference: 1922  J Quarter in WOOLWICH  Volume 01D  Page 1267

Thanks.
