The Common Room / Re: Have I waited the longest for my 1.50 wills??
« on: Sunday 13 October 19 10:06 BST (UK)  »
Actually the delays with the probate registry go back to when the government changed the IHT rules. A great many people submitted applications for probate to beat the deadline which left the registries with massive backlogs. It's  been causing  issues at work and I've seen house sales  fall through because buyers  have  lost patience waiting on sellers to get probate. While it's true we're  only asking for  a  copy of some historic paperwork I  cant imagine they'd be deemed a priority compared to  people actually dealing  with  an estate.

Convulsions, possibly. Apoplexy maybe or Syncope - but the latter two are more likely to be associated with a heart attack or stroke style death.

3 ordered 24th, due the 8th, zero so far.

I wasn't worried but I'm glad you posted this because I now I can see why they might be snowed under.

Records are only as reliable as the people writing them. I came across a death certificate with a date of death of the 13th and letters of administration dated 31st today. And this is here in computerised 2019.

Lancashire / Re: Accrington place name - Loder Terrace, Burnley Road
« on: Sunday 10 March 19 18:00 GMT (UK)  »
Like the others have said you won't find it on a map because it'll just be a name embedded in a stone somewhere in the wall of the terrace. I can think of half a dozen named terraces going up manchester road for instance. I'm fairly sure it was either the stretch of Burnley road that was torn down to make way for east gate with only half a dozen buildings still standing or the ugly curved building on the corner opposite broadway pub. It's easier to work out when you look at the fuller description of the enumeration district. Bearing in mind their description is, literally, the path they walked collecting the details.

They go from infant street past heifer bank etc to "Whalley Road east side from Avenue Parade to Water st, Primitive Methodist chapel and Back Avenue Parade, Water street south side to Melbourne Street, Melbourne street from Water street to Avenue parade , Avenue Parade both sides to Abbey St, part of Burnley road called Loder Terrace. "

The thick black line is a ward boundary he wouldn't have gone to the left of.

My uncle cancelled his ancestry subscription years ago but his tree is still publically visible.

Anyone who messages him will be left hanging a long time.

Lancashire / Re: Help finding William Hartley death
« on: Sunday 13 August 17 17:08 BST (UK)  »
Why do people ask for help but then not give enough detail for anyone to be able to help them?

In any case blackburn cem records are available at deceased online. You may need to look there. (there was a william hartley buried there in 1934).

What's your relatives name that's been linked to the medals?
