It's such a weird dress I can't even decide whether it's 19th or 20th century.

I don't know whether Accy library was any use but I had time to waste so I had a look.

In the 1942 and the 1947 Barrett's directory of blackburn & district there was "21-23 Whalley Rd CLARKE Mrs E.A., Hope and Anchor Hotel"

I couldn't find either a mrs clarke or the hope and anchor in either the 1958 or 1963-64 directories which was a little strange since the pub is still there today although in between the directory was reorganised so it was by trade instead of being by address.

How interesting. One of my great-grandmothers was from that part of blackburn. In fact in 1901 they were living on Walter St and some of the siblings would have been school age in 1904.

Ah, the possibilities.

Thanks very much for posting that.

Thank you everyone! I'm very impressed I'd have no idea where to start doing something like that.

I'll have to show my father them I think he'll be quite impressed as well.  :)

One of my great-grandfathers (seated centre) spent some time as a fireman down the mines on one of the rescue teams.   Rather him than me.

It'd be great if someone could clean it up a little, thanks.  :)
