As you appear to be in the UK, most libraries have free access to Ancestry library edition, which contains the basics.

I don't subscribe to any of the sites, as I use this facility.

I have carried out a lot of research relating to the prison at Swaffham. I will be publishing a book next year, I hope. Watch this space.

Thanks for that extra bit of information.

The research I was doing, was for a work-mate, so I will pass it on.

Thanks again.

Amy WHITBY     Wife     M     Female     63     Gayton, Norfolk, England
Emma WHITBY     Grand Daur     U     Female     18     Dilham, Norfolk, England     Cook Domestic Servant
Martha WHITBY     Grand Daur          Female     7     Flitcham, Norfolk, England

Edith WHITBY     Grand Daur          Female     2     Hillington, Norfolk, England

I'm wondering where he is too. Could be in the prison, hospital or workhouse as initials only. Who knows!

Do get back to me if you would like this followed up further locally. I'm just up the road from Grimston.

It could be worth looking at the name Bone as well. In Norfolk we say Boon and Bone the same.

Hi

Carr is a very common name in the area near to Whissonsett, perhaps the father of your ancestor was just coming home!

If you need help in Norfolk, drop me a line, I am just up the road from this village and have lots of local knowledge.

Where were your Seppings family? There was a family of that name in the Raynham area, but you give very little info.

There is a will that fits, if you want me to look it up for you, please do get back to me. See my link below.
