Thank you all for your help.
As suggested by Forfarian,  i have been cross referencing the children of a Alexander Robertson who lived in Crown Street. Would that district be Hutchesontown?

Hello Sancti
This is my delema. I only have him as the father of of child called Daniel in 1918 on his birth certificate. Unfortunately the child died a few months later. The mothers name was Sarah Ann Donnelly (maiden name Kivlochan) and the  address given was 21 Crown Street. I have researched Sarah Ann but she did not marry him, probably had another child by him and died in 1926. I have spent years looking for Alexander but with no birth date, no birth place, only Alexander Robertson, quay labourer, 21, Crown Street, fathered a child in 1918 to go on.

I am having one more attempt to find a man called Alexander Robertson. He was living at 21 Crown Street, Glasgow in 1918. I found a man called Alexander Robertson on the valuation rolls and it stated that he was a craneman. I know he was a quay labourer so perhaps that involved using a crane. If anyone has family called Robertson that lived in Crown st or records of dock labourers, i would love to hear from you.

Dear Fiona, it is lovely to hear from you. I spoke to Elizabeth a couple of years ago regarding the family history and she told me a very sad story of hers and siblings early days, are you her daughter or niece? A solicitor got in touch with me regarding the death of Charles and wanted to know information regarding his siblings as there was an inheritance due, so I hope he reached them o.k. Last year, out of the blue another Lady got in touch with me to say that she was the daughter of another Hugh Donnelly. He was a younger brother of your grandfather Martin and child of Hugh Donnelly and Sarah Ann. They had Hugh 1902, Mary 1900, Sarah 1904, Rose Ann 1906, James 1909, and you Grandfather Martin 1910, Elizabeth and another Hugh 1915. Sarah Ann's husband Hugh died in 1917 and she went on to have another child called Daniel ( who died at 6 wks )in 1918 with a man called Alexander Robertson and finally my father in law Thomas in 1920, father unknown. I have been trying to find out if my father in laws ' father was also Alexander Robertson but cannot find any link, all i can find out is that when she had Daniel in 1918 she was living with this man, a quay labourer at 21 Crown St Glasgow. The lady who got in touch with me, who's father was Martins younger brother Hugh, said that they moved to Birmingham and that the sister and him are buried there. All quite a lot to take in so if you have anything you would to ask please get in touch.
Kind regards Carolyn
