Cork / Robert Wilson/ Mary Kate Devereux marr.1906 Cork
« on: Sunday 25 April 21 09:58 BST (UK)  »
The story goes that Robert B.1879 Cumlodden Argyllshire was a seaman and I have him in census 1881 through 1911, and Mary I also have in census 1881 through to 1911 when she lived Georges st., Lower Cork as Head of family with three children Thomas 4, Jeane/Jane 3 and Michael 9/12mths plus two boarders. I have Michaels details through life, but am confused about Thomas's birth etc., and Jean/Jane/Janet  as her name seems to vary.
Mary states in 1911 that she had 5 births, two have died. To add to this confusion in 1912 apparently she had Robert and in 1914 James/Jimmy but then things seem to get sticky.
The story continues that Mary passed away and that Robert married Isabella Holland, I did find a marriage in Irelands Index for Isabella Holland with Groom Robert Wilson in 1919 Cork and family have said they moved back to Scotland where Robert apparently passed away 1963 Edinburgh but I cannot find a death for Mary prior to this,  Isabella may have died1976 Scotland.
A Mary 'Anne' Wilson passed away 19th May 1920,res. Grand View Terrace Victoria rd, Cork and Admin was granted to Robert Wilson , husband, certified by Commissary Clerk Edinburgh and this is what family trees on 'A' believe is our Mary, but that doesn't make sense to me unless they actually divorced, anyway 1922 found a Robert Wilson rtd Engineer of same address who passed away then.
Continuing the story ( sorry it's so long) Robert Wilson and Isabella went on to have three children of their own 1920, 1926 and 1928.

Now I do know that Michael was sent to Canada and POSSIBLY Thomas,Robert and James did as well as part of Mr Fegans homes but believe Jean/Jane stayed in Edinburgh.
So please, any help regarding births, marriages and deaths of any of these people to help me find my way forward would be most appreciated.
Again apologies for such a long story but I've tried to give as much info' as I can.

Canada / Corcoran Dominic b. c.1908 and William b.c.1910
« on: Thursday 25 March 21 04:56 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning everyone,

I am needing help with the above brothers who were born Rotherham Yorkshire England acc. to census 1911. Father William Corcoran, mother Martha Ellis married Q1.1907 Pontefract Yorkshire.
What I have found (I believe) is William arrived Quebec 7 August 1926 he has become William Gerald Corcoran aged 16 on way to Ontario via Goverment. Not sure why Gerald appears now as not on birth reg.
William 22 occ. waiter, married Hilda Florence Page 19, occ housemaid on 10 May 1932, parents as above, in Toronto. Hilda's parents Herbert Page and Emma ( Bramble) although she doesn't appear to know mother's maiden name at that time.
1940 William and Hilda reside 10 Pine Terrace, Danforth, 1953 William G. Corcoran and Hilda F reside at 12 Pine ave., both times he is a manager. Then it becomes sticky, no sign of William but a Hilda Corcoran is at 525 Lingston Rd, Danforth, then I have lost them both. Hilda was my relative.
To add this confusion..
Dominic Patrick Corcoran ( no sign of the Patrick on birth reg) arrives Quebec 12 May 1929, gives his last residence as Parkgate  Rotherham (as did William), this was their address in 1911. And then no sign of Dominic until I come across 'Donald Patrick' Corcoran age 24 who married May Walsh 37 b. England parents Edward Walsh  and Jane Morris, on 5th Jan 1933 York Toronto giving his parents as William Corcoran and Martha Ellis same as William, Mr and Mrs William Corcoran of Mutual st, Toronto were witnesses. Dominic and Williams parents both dec. years before.

I thank you for taking an interest and hope someone can shed some light on these brothers and their spouses. Sorry this is so long but have given all information I have been able to glean.

Essex / William Hagger/Haggar b.c.1887
« on: Monday 29 June 20 04:29 BST (UK)  »
Help to identify this young man is needed please.
According to 1901 census he was born London but his parentage starts Epping Essex...…
William Hagger/Haggar born 11 Dec 1859 Epping lives with his parents Henry and Betsy and siblings 1861-1881 Bell Common Epping.
1891 it appears he is the William aged 30 b. Epping is HoH no occ. stated Living  Mile End Rd,
In April 1893 Bethnal Green he marries Emily Eliza Strange.*
1901 census we find William and Emily with  William 13 (c. 1887)**,Emily 8, Charlie 7 and Sarah 5 living
West Ham/Stratford area.
1911 William and Emily live with Charles and Sarah back in Bell Common Epping.
Stated 4 births 4 living.
Both died in Epping.
* Emily Eliza Strange bpt 8 March 1863 All Saints Epping.
Found poor law removal settlement for her November 1887 Bethnal Green which although hard for me to read suggest she moved around a lot.
1891 Emily is 28 a servant living Bancroft Rd MEOT which is one of the addresses on poor law record.
In 1871 she lived in Epping with parents and 1881 a servant in Theydon Bois.

So this is background to the 'parents' of William 1887 but whose son is he? and what happened to him?
Other children
Emily May Haggar bpt 3 Sept. 1893 record shows she was born 3 Feb 1893. Now an Emily Strange was born at that time but it seems she was re-registerd in Sept 1893 as Emily May Haggar.
Charlie/Charles is actually Charles William Haggar b.1894 , KIA 1915 but shown as W.C Haggar ( William Haggar) his service record names his parents William, Emily and brother William and sisters.

Apologies for making this so long but thought background might help work out just who William 1887 actually is, before I pull the rest of my hair out.

Wiltshire / Harriet Read b.1813 Wylye
« on: Thursday 27 February 20 05:41 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning everyone.
Please can you help me clear up this little puzzle. I have Harriet Read b. 28 August 1811 Wylye, dau. of James and Anne Read.
Bpt. 16 Sept.1811 privately but apparently rec. into church 22 Dec.1811.

Out of all her family she is the only one I cannot find later other than possibly...….
Harriet Read adm. to Salisbury Infirmary 19 Sept.1812, discharged 23 Jan.1813. Then a burial for a Harriet Read 9 July Martin, which I believe is not too far from Salisbury.
I'm wondering if this is the Harriet I'm seeking and she was a sickly child is there a home etc., she might have gone to after discharge in that vicinity.

Any help clarifying all this would be appreciated muchly.
