Australia / Finding a probate/admin. and Coroners report WA
« on: Tuesday 07 November 17 15:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello (again)

I wonder if some kind person could advise me whether or not it is possible to get a hold of a Coroners report from 1975.  Looking on-line it sounds like after 10 years they are destroyed.  Is that correct?

Also, with regard to any Probate/Administration I've read that these are closed for 75 years, again could someone clarify this for me.

If any of these are obtainable could you please tell me where I where i would need to look.

Thanks so much,
CD

Australia / Western Australia - obtaining a dc
« on: Tuesday 07 November 17 09:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
I have just received a dc by post that I ordered from Western Australia some weeks ago.  Based on the information in that dc I now need to order another one.

My query is - Is there anyway to get a digital copy of a dc rather than via the very slow process by post?  The dc is only needed for family history purposes.  I have read the instructions on the website however it does not appear to be an option.  I wondered whether I may have missed something?

Thanks in advance.

Lanarkshire / Some Glasgow Burial Records available on Familysearch
« on: Thursday 02 November 17 11:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Forgive me if this is known already.  It was however a revelation to me! Currently trying to do some Glasgow research and in the throws of planning a trip to the Mitchell Library. I phoned yesterday in order to ask a couple of questions and was rather surprised to find out that there are a number of cemetery burial registers now available on FamilySearch.

The pathway is Familysearch >Catalog>Place (put in Glasgow and select Scotland, Lanark, Glasgow)  Then press "search".  From this list now select Cemeteries (39)  You should now have a long list of various cemeteries.  Select for example Sighthill - you'll find quite a long list of Daily Interment books.  However only those with the image of a camera are viewable.  Those with an image of a film canister are not.   These are only searchable by date, however if you know the dates you are looking for there is a tremendous amount of information to be found.  A bit of hunting about but very 'do-able'. Personally I was pleased to find many films for St Kentigerns available.    Needless to say tea was late last night.

Hoping this is useful and that I am not the last to find this out.... :-[

Lanarkshire / Finding a grave - Glasgow
« on: Friday 13 October 17 20:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I wonder if anyone could please point me in the right direction.  I am looking for two graves.  One of my great-grandfather whom I know died in 1915 at the Eastern District Hospital in Glasgow. A catholic whom I suspect but can't be sure is buried at St Kentigern's Cemetery nr Lambhill.

The other person whom I'm looking for is my 2 x great-grandfather whose dc I cannot find although I know that he died in 1898.  The place of Glasgow with date and year is given in a probate document.

I have looked at Deceased online, Billion Graves,Find a Grave etc. with no joy.  Also there is a pdf I found listing names from St K's again no joy.  Pretty positive there would not be headstone.  Are the records for St Kentigern's at the Mitchell Library?  Or maybe they have been transcribed by one of the Scottish FHS's?

Thx in advance, CD

Australia / Guidance on obtaining a dc from Western Australia
« on: Friday 06 October 17 11:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone
Help Required please.  I am working on some research for a family member.  My trail has brought me to Western Australia.  I think I may need to order a death certificate (death for this person was in 1975) however I am perplexed by the application form.  I've found the d/c details on Ancestry and am poised to down load and fill out a form from the Gov't of WA website in order to obtain the cert.   I am not related to the deceased.  They seem to require alot of certified copies of information from you before you can obtain the d/c.  However, the death date is older than 30 years. So would I just fill out the form, give them my payment details and ignore the other stuff?

Death certificates are available to the spouse (including defacto
partner), parents or children. (Evidence of relationship isrequired in all cases). If you do not qualify under the Registry’s Certificate AccessPolicy, you must provide the written consent or authority from aperson entitled to the certificate and you must also provideidentification for yourself and the person for whom you are
acting.

Thanks for your guidance!

Hi All,

For anyone who is or WAS local to the Altrincham/Timperley/Hale/Bowdon area in Cheshire.  The Friends of John Leigh Park are looking for your memories and photos of the park.  This year marks the centenary of when Sir John Leigh donated land to create a new park for Altrincham.
