That's great Grandma, you will see that in 1901 Marion is missing, she married John Fairgrieve in 1899 and their son Robert,my Uncle Bob, was born in 1901. It all fits nicely.

I have been looking at the family of John Marshall born in Alloa 1831 he married Christina Wilson in 1868. The eldest daughter Christina was born in 1866. On the wedding lines John is decribed as a Widower.Any help with a previous wife would be appreciated.

Hi Monkey_49
Good to hear from you.My Simpson and Horne connections come from my Great Aunt Helen Somerville Henderson Simpson, she married Great Uncle Bill. Their daughter married Robert Horne and had three children ,John (Jock) W Horne I remember from my childhood. My Grandfather George Henderson was the Nephew of Helen ( Aunty Nell).

Thanks for your replies, Susan's death lines say she was married to James but does not say she was his widow. The 1898 is the wrong James. The 1818 baptism is a possibility though, the census says birth at Cranston that could be a transciption mistake. The families were all from this area so Crichton could be right. My g grandfather James was born at Heriot and Falahill and Temple are all birth places of his children. There are no children called Agnes though which would be unusual in |Scotland.
